Now, now... he's a good Christian, and very sorry. So let's forgive him, and remember that it's those HOMO-sex-uals who threaten marriage, never good Republican men like himself. The sanctity of traditional marriage isn't threatened by this at all, the real danger remains those gays & lesbians who want to get married.

Trust me, in the days ahead you will hear this spun by the right-wing talking heads, that liberal gays are to blame for this whole thing. Either we made him do it, or else we have exaggerated it out of proportion. In any case, we are to blame for it.

What really blows me away is that on tv today I saw three different republican strategists say that it is not hypocrisy when someone runs on a family values platform, leads the charge against adulterous politicians and then gets caught with his own pants down.

It never ceases to amaze me how Republicans are the first to throw stones, but when their own glass houses shatter, it is somehow different because they should be judged for holding everyone else to a certain moral standard, but not be judged for the one that they themselves live by.

Perhaps the legislative process that rebuked him in South Carolina left him emasculated. He needed to fuck something over, since his own legislature cock-blocked him from screwing South Carolina out of stimulus money.

Good thing is we can all know how judgemental and unforgiving these same Republicans were against Clinton -- payback is a bitch!

Exactly what I expected would happen. "Move along, nothing to see here!"

This will be spun until Governor Sanford is actually a hero, and a guardian of family values, like he's always claimed. Hey, I'm a Republican! I can do no wrong!

What else is new? Another conservative right wing republican admits having an extramarital affair. Yet these GOP assholes claim to be holier than thou. Yeah right.

I think that it would be hilarious if Alaska Governor Sarah Palin ended up admitting having a lesbian affair. That would really send the religious right rocking and rolling on their way to obscurity.icon_biggrin.gif

And if that were to happen I would gladly switch parties just long enough to act as her kaishakunin should she feel the need to perform seppuku to regain her honor.icon_lol.gifI'm kinda uncoordinated so it might take numerous swings to get the job done.

I can't help but wish shit like this would just stay out of the news, and by osmosis, my brain. I really don't care. I didn't care about Clinton and I don't care about Sanford.

It's destroyed lives flashing across the screen, entertainment for the nuanced "tit for tat" crowd. (The same people who will be drooling and snickering when Keith Olberman names him "worst person of the week" ). I don't like his politics. That's it. I don't relish his shame or the shaming of his wife and family.

The last few days I have watched that beautiful, 16yo Iranian girl (neda) die in the street over and over on the news and it's really changed the lens I want to look through.

Most of this crap just doesn't matter.

    I only skimmed the article.
....at one point I thought he was trying to tell us something:

    "I'm a bottom-line kind of guy."

Note to self: Whether you are a public figure or sit on the board of companies - when you are known - just know that people are watching you. Zoom lenses are available to catch your every move. Keep your noses clean. The old J.F.K. days are over - where the press will look the other way at your indiscretions. I don't know this guy - never heard of him as a matter of fact - but I hate the way the mud will cling to his family - - they didn't do anything wrong.

Conservatives seem blind to this sort of action damaging the sanctity of marriage far more than gay marriage. I suggest that it's time to write to your MPs.

I found the story a bit confusing. So she asked him to pack his bags for a trial separation two weeks ago. They've been working on this for months.

And he's been in Argentina the last few days??

Doesn't that mean that after the affair already came to light, he took off for some more tango and chimichurri sauce?

The first thing is that it is *very* sad that his wife and kids have to go through this. Just because he is a fuckwitted republican doesn´t mean that his family won´t suffer.

The second thing is that he has shown the moral duplicity of the right. For them traditional marriage too often seems to involve adultery. What´s the deal?

And when this douchebag was in Congress, he voted to impeach Clinton. Funny how the Republican with double-standards gets busted.
