    Hey guys,

So while surfing the web, I stumbled on to some interesting information. Now I know the web isnt the best spot to get reliable, so I thought I would come here to get some validity.

So the info I read was that if your right index finger and ring finger were roughly the same size, than you were gay. Obviously, being gay I checked it out to see what mine was, and they are the same size.

So could you all see if your right index and ring finger is about the same size?

Im checking at work to see what the straight guys say, ill post the results. I thought it was interesting at least.

Ring finger is substantially longer than my index... And considering how bright I burn - this myth is defunct.

My ring finger is larger than my index finger.

    I am not gay?

I didn't think so. I just like looking at Mario Lopez.

I think it is just a "straight guy" thing.

But I don't like to drink beer. Hmmmmmm........

From what I have heard ....

This is a theory that was observed and tested to contribute to the possibility that being gay is developmentally linked (as opposed to genetic and environmentally linked)

The theory goes that while in the womb certain hormones that make finger length an identifyable trait in determining homosexuality..

    see:

    http://www.unl.edu/rhames/courses/readings/homofinger/homo_finger.html

My index fingers are much longer than my ring fingers on both hands, so therefore it is thought (theoretically) that my development as a fetus might not have had as much to do with my being gay as genetic or environmental factors.

My ring finger is much longer than my index finger. And I have never been called "macho." Ever.

Well, there was this one time when I lifted the golf cart out of a ditch...

Ring finger being larger than your index finger is supposed to be a sign of being exposed to too much testosterone.

Then people talk about that some gays are over exposed to either testosterone or estrogen, the over masculine, or over feminine.

Digit ratio being linked to prenatal testosterone exposure is a pretty well-researched topic and digit ratio appears to be a fine approximation of prenatal test exposure across mammals.

The link of this to sexual orientation is based, implicitly, on the assumption that gay men are somehow "like women." Research on it is heavily weakened by the fact that nearly all work on the topic uses faulty and outdated methodology (such as gathering a sample at a gay bar, essentially convoluting sexual orientation and outness) to the point where I'd say its impossible to draw a conclusion about things.

I'm going with an abridged version of what corroborates with what UFJockNerd said: research has shown that a ring finger longer than an index finger (on the same hand, clearly) has been linked to exposure to (higher) levels of testosterone. as with most research, causality is very much so difficult to conclude as compared with finding possible correlation(s).

hm, mine aren't even either- obviously the myth is debunked.
i do remember my dad telling me once that women have those two fingers equal and that men don't; therefor its an easy way to spot a very successful transexual for a man, since they can change what they want, but their fingers will always betray them. i guess if some of you guys have even fingers though that's debunked too.

yea i fall in the "MACHO" category - i've actually heard this a billion different ways and the one that i think seemed to fit a little better than 'gay vs straight' is 'femme vs butch' (with all the variations therein)

One guy i knew swore that anyone with a ring finger longer than an index finger was a natural top, and if they were the same = natural bottom :p (although he did like to occasionally flip flop >> )
