    Hey whosyourcdn,

This as an old poem I changed a bit....

    whosyourcdn, áre you gríeving
    Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leáves, líke the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Áh! ás the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
    Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
    Sórrow's spríngs áre the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed:
It ís the blight man was born for,
It is whosyourcdn you mourn for.

...with a little sadness we can recognise when we're happy. All the great men I've known including my Dad know how to cry.

    Classy haha

Sometimes I get pissed off and angry out of the blue. I'll throw a hissy fit while on court and start yelling at things. It's usually just cause I'm hungry. Lack of food makes you cranky, as my dad and I both know.

I was just watching The Green Mile and my eyes started well-up when Percy stomped on Mr. Jangles.

maybe that movie's just too sad for it's own fucking good.

When I get really angry and ashamed of something I usually tear up a lot and it looks like I'm crying.

Usually happens when I'm drunk and having serious conversations with my friends/brothers.

thanks for that, I guess my lead in was a bit off, I cry when appropriate, its just a new phenomenon to just feel "weepy"...

    btw congrats on your marriage!

whosyourcdn saiddo gay men have periods? Im all emotional for nothing today? happen to you all?

If you google "male periods" there's anecdotal 'evidence' for men (not just gay men) having a biological cycle vaguely analagous to womens' menstrual cycle. Supposedly our hormones, weight, and facial hair growth go through cyclical variations in the neighbourhood of 30 days. But if it's true it also seems to be much more subtle than the effect a woman's cycle has on her moods. There are also people who say that science and medicine disprove it, but I didn't see any of those people's credentials or citations so they could also be talking out their asses.

On the other hand, a shrink might well tell you that you've got suppressed psychological stressors built up and at the moment they're just percolating towards the surface for some reason, but since you didn't fully take care of them when they were encountered, they seem mysterious now because there's some distance between the initial cause of your distress and the current manifestation of it.

Or maybe someone slipped you a memory-quashing roofie last night, violated you while you were out, and now your body's trying to tell you something... which sounds like I'm making some kind of awful rape-as-dark-humour joke at your expense but I'm serious, and without knowing how you spent last night, someone offering an objective opinion would have to at least consider it as a possibility icon_confused.gif

A good book will get me every time (no reading in front of others). But when my man-struation hits... I always want chili-cheese fries. Best to avoid people at all costs that day.

If I may, the question should be "why do guys cry?" It has nothing to do with being tough or not.

Hey, period or not, we all have our moments. To me, a real man admits it. For those that dont, I laugh knowing they are either heartless or lying.

I would not want to date a cry baby for sure, man, woman, whatever. But to show emotion when appropriate... makes me melt frankly.

To me... the true sign of a man or a human being actually, is someone in touch with their emotions, their sexuality, there inner being. For those who walk with their nose in the air, or the bully, tough guy... I feel badly just knowing they are scared shitless.

I have my times, my moments my days. Generally a happy go lucky guy... but Im human too icon_smile.gif

Fluctuations in our testosterone can make you more apt to be blue or feel down. Lots of things can do that like being sick or infections or even stress that cause your hormones to drop.

Our minds have a powerful effect on our bodies and they mutually affect each other.

It is good that guys cry sometimes .. it helps with humility.

Brief, to the point (unlike me) and well said!

Crying is as natural as laughing. So Yes even tough guys cry.

In fact most tough guys are more compassionate, and caring, and feeling than those who pretend to be, just to look good. Just as I never call myself a pacifist, because I'm not violent!

Men also have hormones, so yes it very possible a man has a monthly, as it's to do with hormones.

But then not all men are born equal either.

You might not have a period, but you might be affected by the weather or the moon phases. In the ER, we definitely know when there's a full moon by the behaviour of our patients. This past week has been a wierd one though. The moon was waning, or waxing, I'm not sure which. We had an overload of whacked out people though. Maybe the highs and lows in the atmospheric pressure sets them off. Who knows? Maybe it's an asteroid passing by. You're not alone. Buck up mister fuck up. It will clear itself soon.
