After several months of trying to locate a Smith & Wesson model 500, I finally located one in a gun shop in Minnesota. I'm going to fly up next week for a shopping spree at The Mall of America and pick it up.
There is something I have noticed however, that has been reported in the press. Americans are buying guns at an alarming pace. In some locations they are even limiting the number of rounds of ammunition you can buy because of shortages. Folks buying are of course overwhelmingly white folks. (This I observed at a recent gun show in a city that was 80% African-American. You'd think the attendees were close to the 80/20 of the area.)
Why is this? And why is there a difference between races in regards to gun ownership?
