Sometimes we have periods when either older entertainers pass away in groups.. or we get a "glut" like here lately. Its always regrettable...

Apparently Billy Mays, the Oxymoron commercial guy, died the other day, too.

I met Gale Storm briefly, along with dozens of other CBS television stars, in 1977 for a group photograph to commemorate the network's 50th anniversary. Very petite, charming lady, smiled the whole time. And of course I grew up watching her 2 TV shows.

BTW, I managed to acquire a color contact print of the original 8 x 10 negative of that shot, taken with a huge view camera. I believe there were only 6 made, CBS CEO William S. Paley getting one, and me another. My ex wife has it now, possibly worth some money, if only as a collector's item. And Gale Storm is front & center in it, with that lovely big smile of hers.

And I thought I was the only one who followed her career!!! Oh, Susanna was the favorite. "Having a heat wave" in Alaska! Still have the Greatest Hits LP in the garage. She really could sing...

The Billy Mays thing is kind of odd. Apparently, he was on the flight that landed at Tampa over the weekend that had a number of blown tires.

The landing was so rough that the overhead compartments opened and something came down and hit him on the head. He said he was OK but it really hit him hard.

I am willing to bet that his death was related to that injury.

Scary thing is I knew who Gale Storm was! That comes from being a Top40 music buff.

She must have been "up there" in terms of age.
