So I have several friends that are not into physical fitness and the gym environment. Two of them have bugged me from time to time about their tagging along and I can show them what its all about. An introduction, mind you. I thought it would be informative and helpful. Um.....

So one of them tagged along with me on Saturday. I'll call him "Jason".
Jason has always said if someone would show him how to use the machines, he would go on his own and follow up. I had planned to mostly
focus on the Cybex machines rather than free weights (but do that a bit toward the end).

We enter the YMCA where one of the friendly (very straight) trainers/ administrators greets me. He shakes my hand, I introduce my friend and we gab a minute about wheat harvest. Immediately after we walk away, my friend asks me if he was gay. Hardly.. was my response. The next comment by Jason as we enter the locker room, "Where are the trolls I'm always hearing about". Without answering him, I just told him to put on his gym clothes.

We get into the weight rooms... After stretching a few minutes (with my friend looking around and asking me questions, we move to one of my favorite machines, the "leg press"... I show Jason how to do it properly and instead of listening, he wants to know why we keep getting looked at. "Probably because your new here". The next 30 minutes were spent with my trying to explain the machines, his looking around at the guys in the gym and comments like "You don't expect me to do that do you", after I'd work a machine, showing him how to properly use it, decreasing the weight for his use. "I do", I would say.

I got tired of him commenting on a few who would wave at me. "Is he gay,
is he single", etc. I finally told him to shut up and pay attention.

When we finished I explained that he could start very slowly if he wished, and add machines as he became more experienced. He finally told me that he might come just for the view. I might just come and watch and see
who comes in here and what they do. "Not with me", I said......

This happens to be one of the reasons that I avoid the gym w/ friends, Zone out w/ headphones that deliver crisp sound and greet fellow gym members who look like they might wanna fill alotted time inbetween sets with casual conversation... A simple nod or a brief wave or a curled smile will do the trick everytime! Now, when I'm leaving that's a different story If you wanna chat while we walk to the car! an escort would be great as to too many testosterone filled inflated boys anyhow...lol

    Have a great wrkout!

This is why I have a straight training friend who does marathons, tris, and workout with me here everyday. Stories like that just make my cringe. He is pure gold at the gym and that is what I need, no bullshit just hard work, sweat, and metal.

Props to him for "wanting" to get healthy...I guess.

Ehh... explains why I see so many guys running treadmills for like hamsters, "just for the view", lol. Honestly, guys that go to the gym "just for the view" are a bit creepy. I see them often at some NYSC's. (I won't name locations though...)

In all seriousness, he's being no less trollish than the trolls he was asking about. I wish guys like that wouldn't take up space in the gym. It's nice to oogle. It's great to see muscle pump and fantasize till you go silly, but the gym is there for him to get some work done (no pun intended).

He could go on men4sex.com for a view that wants him too, and probably get better and quicker results.....
