Pictures & Profiles: I've seen discussion about old pics and faked pictures, good and bad, but I'm not sure how many of you view those who have no pictures.

I try and say hello to those who message me. I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for not putting a picture forward, but I do tend to put those profiles at a much lower priority.

    What is your view?

I agree Kansan, and what frustrates me most is that the majority of folks from my town, who I would just be happy to have as friends, have no picture. Not starting a conversation with someone too afraid to show their face.

I guess its up to the person whether or not they want to put up their picture. If they don't, I figure they have their reasons and they must be valid (at least for them)and don't dwell on it. If i get a message and i find something that interests me, i ask for a face pic because i generally like to know what the person i'm talking to looks like.icon_cool.gif

lemme finish school in 4.5 months, and i'll have pics. i know someone who got outted by someone he chatted with online. turns out they had a mutual aquaintance.
because of the size of my school and the town it's in, i choose not to be out just yet. constant group projects each semester, and i'd really rather not have to deal with someone who constantly second guessed my business choices because they're too busy wondering if i want to fuck them in the ass.
but once i've written my last exam.....

and i'm now waiting for chucky to tear me apart.

I respond anyway. For one thing, Online Life isn't anything like real life and I don't let online things bother me. I have too many important real life things to worry about. lol

Second, I agree with 714 and have gone a step further by starting a conversation with a pictureless guy in my home town.

If it's not that they don't have a picture, people complain that they don't have a FACE picture. And if they have a FACE picture, they better have a BODY picture. And if they have PICTURES of their FACE and BODY, they sure as hell better be VERIFIED. And if their pictures are VERIFIED they should be PUBLIC. Otherwise they are self-loathing homosexuals who deserve banishment to RealSlobs.com.

    It never ends.

I do find it annoying as hell to swap mail more than a few times with people who have no face pic to send -- especially those who gab in the forums a lot. And I find it weird as hell to be buddy- or hot-listed by someone picture-less. But people have their reasons.

This constant worry about being outed...
I'm sorry to see that it's still a concern

I think schools and colleges are hot-beds for bullying and bigotry. So it is understandable if a student wants to remain anonymous.

However most people can crop pictures, or disguise them in some way and having some sort of image is better than that horrible red box no photo thing.

It's a personal chose though, I don't consider someone bad or lacking in self-esteem just because they want to remain anonymous.

NO PICTURE=NO RESPONSE..that's how I feel as well..I get very annoyed w/ people who have no fotos and then ask to see my private photos..excuse me? There's NO EXCUSE for having no fotos on a site like this..none at all..whether if you're ugly, low self-esteem, or closeted, I don't care..if you can't have a foto, get off the site. I don't chat w/ headless people or people I cannot see.

I've sent my photo to dozens who have asked to see it. I've also explained why I don't have a photo dozens of times.

I'm with Obscenewish on this one, though. Some people are going to complain no matter what you do.

Frankly, I'm bothered more by people who open up threads that have been opened up a hundred times already. It's quite simple to scroll through the existing topics to see if an issue has already been addressed.

I guess I could alter my profile to say "REDUNDANT FORUM POSTERS NEED NOT REPLY!", or I could just go with the flow and let everyone here use the site however they choose to use. I think I'll choose the latter.

In case of RealJock... this is a gay site and to all the fellas that don't have a pic up and live in Smallville: if the friend of a friend you virtually meet on this site isn't a friend of Dorothy, then why are they on the site to begin with?

Personally me tinks that this is 2007 (almost 200icon_cool.gif and next to the fact that being gay is really not that big of a deal anymore ...we all have webcams, phones with cams, scanners to digitalize your old pix, friends that have cameras, videocameras that take pictures, cd's with digi-pix we got for free when we developed our old school cam pix, so ... is there really an excuse to not have a picture up?

Hope I don't sound to harsh here. Didn't drink the Haterade today, for reals I didn't!

I have no problem with pictureless people and fail to understand the fury it provokes in some - but I will say that it is difficult for me to expend much time on them because I have wasted time on fakers in the past and I am generally wary when it comes to online interactions. Instinct certainly goes a long way in helping me decide to what extent I will interact with a pictureless realjock member but even then I still get worried I am wasting my time. It just sucks to realize you have been used. And the verification process is a very nice little safeguard. Someone without a picture's best bet would be to have a webcam so they can prove they are who they say they are without leaving much of an online trail. But I understand that is not feasible for everyone.

while i stick to this site for the most part, mainly for the forums, if i do strike up a conversation in e-mail and it leads to someone willing to go on msn for chats, i do have my pic up on there. but for the most part in my experiences with online communities people usually ask and because they're lookin for a piece of tail if i say no then suddenly contact is cut off.

so i've uploaded a photo, ya the face is blurred. got some not blurred in privates. i know that won't be good enough for some people.

but thanks to laurence for understanding the college issue. if i were somewhere with more than 2000 students, more like 10000, i would be out. at bigger schools there is a chance to find people to fall back on if things do go wrong.

21bimtl,,, i agree with you. It's 2007 and i believe everyone has a picture of themselves to show online but some guys like you "prefer" not to post for some valid reasons. i truly understand. I, on the other hand, have a webcam for the curious ones to view. Webcam is way better than pictures since it gives you the recent/present look of who you are chatting with. icon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gif

Speaking of your pictures, have you noticed how that RJ workout routine has caused hair to grow on your stomach? Fascinating!

I've tried to contact members in my own city that have no pics. Just to say hi and be friendly but so far no one has responded yet. I see that they get the emails because it shows they have been read.
But I don't concern myself with them if they want to talk I figure they will. And if they don't I respect their privacy. The same goes form younger members, sometimes they feel older guys are just trolling around. I'm here because of the common interest we all have in bodybuilding and the fact most of us are gay. We share a lot with each other and much of the compassion that we have for each other is very real. Mom taught me to be respectful to others and it will come back to you.
    I believe she was right.

    Great workouts
