ok so my ass is in Ankara, Turkey, studying abroad for the semster. I bought a plane ticket from Aug. 31st- Jan. 8th...so I will not be back in the states for Christmas. I tried to change my flight, but it costs alot of money...like more than 500 dallars. SO I was palnning on going to Madrid, Spain, but I don`t know when to go. All my friends who said they were going to stay for Christmas, have decided to go home...so...I am alone...LOL! I know it sucks, right? But I have to make do, and now decide whne to go to Madrid... oh and btw, Madrid is so cheap to go to from Turkey, so that`ß why I am going, and I always wanted to go...but back to the issue, when should I go? Should I spend Christmas in Ankara, where thay do not celebrate christmas, or should go spend Christmas in Madrid, where they do celebrate the holiday?

I need a lot of help with this one because this is the first holiday I will spend alone.: icon_confused.gif

Madrid is a great place to visit period. Spanish men are cute and friendly, so I'm sure you wouldn't be lonely and a lot of them speak very good english.

    Have fun

    Madrid is nice, but...

I don't know how much you travel, or what your financial conditions are... but since you want to celebrate Christmas I asssume you are a Christian, so...

Take advantage of what might be the opportunitty of a lifetime - Christmas in the Holy Land. You're literally right next door.

The Sea, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, the Galilee, etc.

There are all kinds of package deals offered for college kids, and transportation is probably cheap because you'r not that far away.

If you need help finding info - email me.

Barcelona is fab. But the Gay men there are too stuck up. Go for Madrid, much friendlier.

if you're lookin for more than gay men. hit up barcelona. i found Madrid pretty bland in comparison. obviously a capital city. alot of gov't buildings around. i probably also have a bit of animosity towards it cuz of the stupid gypsy that thiefed my wallet. and the other one that spat on my friend when we caught her with her hand in my friends backpack. and the other one who's son cursed me out for not giving him money....

the gypsys in barcelona are much more professional and don't draw attention to themselves. and cmon, barcelona has Gaudi everywhere, and a Picasso museum. and a beach... and way more street performers to watch while the gypsys take your shit.

also, i was in barcelona for easter (without know t was easter) and well, they're pretty religious there lemme tell ya.

bu to get to my point. if you go to madrid. make sure you spend a few days in barcelona.

I was in Barcelona a couple days this summer before I left on an Atlantis cruise. Georgeous, clean, modern city with lots to see. They keep telling me Turkey is beautiful as well but I haven't yet had time to visit. Since you're already in Turkey, go see somewhere else. You'll only live in Europe so long.
