Has anyone had any experience with gay campgrounds on the East coast? Any advice/recommendations will be appreciated.

not really on the east COAST, but it's in western new york state, which is better than say, california... its about 20 miles from my house, and while i dont have a large pool for comparison, i dont have any complaints about it...

I've known many guys who go to Hillside Campground in the Poconos. haven't been there myself, so I can't really give you an opinion one way or the other.

Sawmill Camping Resort for gays & lesbians in South Florida, clothing optional at the pool only. Fairly nice, most of our friends who go there like it. But camping in South Florida is flat & hot.

As much as i would love to have gone to one of these, I do not like the idea of segreating kids into gay and straight camps.

I thought the question was about adult campgrounds?

My friends actually headed to one for 4th of July weekend. It sounds like they had a great time. It was somewhere in the Poconos in Pennsylvania.

ah, well, if it is for relationship (or sex) purposes, then all is well, my bad.

Would this be sort of like an outdoor bath house? icon_razz.gif

That would suck.. I like to run around bare foot and wouldn't much care for the feel of strange jizz oozing between my toes icon_razz.gif

In the mideast (is Michigan really still the midwest?) there's "Camp It" in Saugatuck.

Oh, looks like they call themselves "Campit".

    in the State of GA
    Lumberjacks and The Rivers Edge.
One you can actually buy cabins and have them there permenatly. I'm am an avid camper but haven't checked them out yet. I hope to soon. But as far as outdoor bath house behavior. it's aginst the rules and like most Male Social Club type situations you have to have a membership which means they can kick you out for misbehavior.

Well, not that either, just not summer camps for kids. I've used a number of gay campgrounds around the US that did not have a sexual focus.

But in any case, I understood the OP to be about recommendations for adult gay campgrounds on the US East Coast.

    why a gay camp ground?

whats wrong with just a camp ground?

in fact, why are you looking at a camp ground at all?

camping is about going out into the wilderness and enjoying the experience of the disconnect with modern life and the reconnection with nature..

Exactly. I hate most all usual campgrounds. Give me a rustic State Park any day. I don't need pools or lodges and barely need a bath house.

Thanks, guys. All of the above noted and appreciated. Hillside sounds like fun, as do others.

(Remember back in the early nineties - yes, some of us remember - when sweat lodges - a` la Robert Bly - were in vogue? What ever happened to them?)

I have been to Timberfell in Tn a few times and really enjoy it. They have a lodge, cabins, camper spaces and tent camping. Clothing optional pool, hot tub, sauna and steamroom. The Tavern opens nightly for drinks, pool and dancing. There are themed weekends. I'm heading up for Jock Weekend this weekend. Great place to meet new friends.
