Saw this via Steve Rothaus' Gay South Florida blog and thought local RJ members might be interested.

Event: 'The Muscular Body As Living Art'
From the websiteA live art exhibition and discussion

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University and the 2009 NPC Southern States Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Bodybuilding Championships will unite to present “The Muscular Body as Living Art.”

Nova Southeastern University Faculty will discuss male and female muscular body images throughout art history. NPC Bodybuilding champions will bring iconic sculptures to life posed on pedestals. The audience is invited to participate in what promises to be a lively discussion.

The event will be followed by an outdoor party with refreshments, music and a wall to wall screening of the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary “Pumping Iron”

Ellie Rodriguez, the entertainment reporter for Deco Drive will host the event.

Thanks! My partner's trying to coordinate some things between Nova U and the HIV/AIDS agency that we sponsor, so maybe we should be seen at this.

At the same time, I can just imagine how awkward we'd feel if the attendees were mostly old leering queens, which is exactly how both of us might come across. But I'll mention it to him, see what he thinks. It's in 2 days.

BTW, I note there's an RSVP, and there is an admission cost. I'll also add that "Deco Drive" is a local TV feature here in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
