Who else just sits back and slowly licks their lips when this is on? Who's your type? Vampire Bill, Jason Stackhouse, or someone else?

Me? I'm a Team Jason guy. But Bill's voice, well, damn, "Mah deah Sookie," it's sexy!

Jason's hot but his lack of common sense turns me off...i'd go for Bill anytime...he's goodlooking....and that southern accent with the voice and passion get me all hot and bothered.

Definately Eric, though Bill is closer to my physical type. But no, I don't just sit back and lick my lips. LOLicon_smile.gif

Call me crazy, but Rene was super smooth & steamy, and put out the sexxxxiest accent, even if it wasn't his, 'borne & reared'. As for someone still current, Sam would do it for me. I mean, really, was his bod not smokin when snookie awoke and found him asleep naked on the bedcovers at her feet? Whoa! Something about Rene & he both being a bit less than 'polished'. Um Hmmmm! Ooo OOOo but what aobut in the first season -- the shaved headed vamp with tats (Liam?)doing the power thrust boink in the video with roped-up Maudette Pickens? Wow!. icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif

I love this show, it is very refreshing. A totally different take on vampires. I still love Buffy best thoughicon_biggrin.gif

Definitely Sam, with Eric following close behind.

I think Eric and Lafayette are gonna get it on soon, btw.

OK, I have never seen the show, the guys look very handsome - - BUT - - what is the attraction of the vampire genre?

I read this thread this morning and it has been bothering me all day. Can anyone explain it?

First off, the character of Jason Stackhouse is a stud, but a no-brainer like him would be a complete turn-off the moment he spoke. The actor, however, has a British accent... OMG HOT! (So does the actor that plays Bill.) I actually lean more towards Sam, then that ripped black guy Tara's rubbing against, with Bill coming in a distant third.

I can't speak of all the hype over Twilight... I think that's a tween girl thing. Most vampire lore presents vampires as secretive, fiendish ghouls... scaring people and snatching them in the night. Anne Rice presents a contrast to this. Even though her male vampires have very homoerotic relationships, there's no outright sex.

True Blood takes it to a new level. Vampires are hot, sexy, seductive beings who have recent "come out" to the public. They've become a commodity. It fits very much into American materialism. Their blood is a super-sensory stimulant to humans... the new ecstasy. Gay vampires are totally accepted and sought after. The show doesn't skimp on the sex either icon_smile.gif

For me, it's been a newer thing. I'm not a huge Buffy fan (though my partner is), and never really got into Anne Rice. Though I love the old Dracula and Blacula flicks from the 60's and 70's.

True Blood sucked me back into the genre, and I started reading the books. Up to the fourth one now, and they're great fun. I'm intrigued by the whole concept of immortality. What if someone could make me a vampire? Would I do it? I wrestle with that one - so many sides to explore. I think that's the lure of the genre for me - being able to see and experience things from a very different perspective. I'm a big sci-fi (or is it Syfy?) buff, too. I think they're closely related.

    Other thoughts, guys?

Well with True Blood it's not just about vampires. It's myths being reality and vampires are just a small part. I think it's definitely more of a sci fi or fantasy story. In fact my bookstore doesn't even shelve the Sookie Stackhouse books in the horror section but in the sci fi area instead. It's like an alternate reality of our world where the supernatural exists and isn't just lurking in the dark. It's full on out there and in your face! The show is definitely sexy and sometimes it's what they don't do or show that makes it so.

Anyway, it's great escapism. I always did like my sci fi or fantasy to come with hot and complicated characters. Sexy!

I LOVE this show. I'm totally addicted to it in fact. I believe this show is more than just about Vampires. It also deals with social issues that have great parallels with the Gay/Straight issues in our society. The struggles of Vampires in the show follow some of what Gay people in American culture have fought for....in loose terms albeit.

My personal favorite was the vampire Liam from the first season. VERY handsome guy!!! And that's putting it mildly. His real name is Graham Shiels....you can google him for a good time ;)

Yea I love the show too. Lots of interesting characters and plot twists.

Vampires always help, and the fact that Bill and Jason are hot certainly doesn't hurt me watching it.

Vampires have always had some sort of sex appeal
and it goes to what sex is afterall
When you have sex with someone you are giving yourself up to some extent
    Giving of yourself
and their is nothing more personal than your own blood

Well, i agree with you. as it is created by Alan Ball (who was also the writer of "Six Feet Under") inevitably the show contains gay/straight issues under the name of "Vampire" issues.

Especially how the word "Fang" is used has very strong references to homosexuality, i.e. "God hates Fa(n)gs", "Fa(n)gBanger".

And furthermore, if we assume all the vampire community as "Gay Community" than we can also reference the acts of Bill to those of a Gay Guy who tries to act straight even though he wants to pursue a gay life..

and yes Jason is soooo gay!

Man you have to read "Vampire Cronicles" of Anne Rice! Think about it again cause no vampire is hot as Lestat! Universal prepares to reinvent the frachise! Robert Downey is in talks for the role! Who knows, when Tom Cruise got the role, Rice refused him first!

I think every gay man in this country has read every one of them at least twice. It's basic reading here.

The Urban Supernatural genre is really coming into its own. Laurell K Hamilton, Charlaine Harris and Jim Butcher have opened the door for what is one of the most rapidly growing niche markets. Rob Thurman, Lilith St. Crow and Carrie Vaughn are relatively new, but pretty damned fantastic as well.

It's too bad the Sci-Fi Channel adaptation of Butcher's Dresden Files was so poorly done. It deserved to be canceled a lot earlier than it was.

I love love LOVE Sam....and i love love LOVE Eggs, so damn fine!! But then theres Eric and then Jason!!

Sam, is just hott all around. Means well, and has a nice body.

Eggs, is just damn fine all around, even if he is a little freaky around Mariann sometimes.

Eric, is the hottest vampire thus far.

Jason, i love jason's body and everything, but his childish, stupid ways bother me....but he's getting better as the season 2 goes on, so....we'll see.

Count me in the fan club.

I LOVE Eggs, gosh I am so jealous of his Pecs.

And Jason, well the dude has a crazy body.

The story line is quite good and erotic this season. I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes...

And the Eric's maker, i forget his name is hot, though I feel like a pedophile for saying it.

I absolutely love True Blood! Jason use to be my favorite, but he is slowly losing to Eric. Egg's body looks like Michelangelo sculpted it. It's pure perfection! Have you ever seen abs like that? I also like Godric; I hope his character stays around.
