Why did he put the apple tree in the garden in the first place? if it was an oak tree would there be an issue? was there incest involved amongst the first family? We will never know... ........

    from my limited understanding..

it was put there as temptation.. you had to resist the temptation of the apple tree to show him your willingness to follow his directions..

Personally I'd have gone for the bacon..

    and i'm probably wrong

    No.

For eating the apple, Eve was punished with pain in childbirth and subjugation to her husband, and Adam was made to work to eat.

    Unto the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy travail; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.' {S}

And unto Adam He said: 'Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying: Thou shalt not eat of it; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

    Next guess!

Blah, blah, blah....obviously none of you know why Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden. Fairy tale or not, it's our culture's guidinng myth. And no different than reading Gilgamesh. Yet none of you managed to bump into the answer in your whole life? ... icon_rolleyes.gif

That's ok. I bet most Christians cant answer it. But then if Christians knew their Bible, they wouldnt be Christians, would they? ... icon_lol.gif ... But the real answer is a lot more fun...if only cuz God keep talking about "us." Who's "us" if there is only one god?

They say ignorance is bliss....but it is also awfully boring, dont ya think.

    1. Nowhere in the bible does it say it was an apple tree. If you are going to mock and deride at least try to get it right.

    2. It would be reasonable to assume that there was indeed incest. We have no other account of anyone else being created.

    3. Adam and Eve disobeyed a clear instruction from God. They were told not to eat. But because they wanted to be like God they decided to go their own way. (Exactly the same thing that Lucifer did and why he was kicked out of heaven- he too wanted to be God. Pride will get you killed)

    4. The tree is not the issue - the crux of the matter was obeying God or going their own way.

"In Genesis 4:1, 2, we read, "And Adam knew Eve his wife: and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel.' And in Genesis 5:3, we read, 'And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image: and called his name Seth.'

In other words, we are told certain details about three sons born to Adam and Eve. It is recorded in Genesis 3:20, 'And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.' Thus all human beings are descendants of the first woman, Eve. There were no other women - just one woman, Eve.

If Adam and Eve just had sons, was Eve a whore?

    2. It would be reasonable to assume that there was indeed incest. We have no other account of anyone else being created. How did incest get into this? Not even the Bible gets into that in the Garden of Eden. That can of worms doesnt get opened until Cain takes a wife.

    3. Adam and Eve disobeyed a clear instruction from God. They were told not to eat. But because they wanted to be like God they decided to go their own way. (Exactly the same thing that Lucifer an why he was kicked out of heaven- he too wanted to be God. Pride will get you killed) Close, but no cigar. The Bible explicitly states why they were given the boot. Mr. At-Least-Try-To-Get-It-Right

    4. The tree is not the issue - the crux of the matter was obeying God or going their own way. "God, Eve and I have decided to go our own way. We're giving our 30 day notice. No need for the angels with the flaming swords, we'll be out by the end of the month. -Adam" ... icon_rolleyes.gif
