Hey sedative, are you at all excited about SC2? I am, been reading everything i can about it!
Jul 14, 2009 9:32 PM GMT
Honestly? No.

I've been deadened to RTS for a while now. New graphics aside, I bet it will be exactly the same. And they're also removing LAN support, which means you have to have internet in order to play it. Even worse than UT3's online verification, because SC2 requires you to sign in online every time you play. At least that's the impression I get.

So no, not interested. Some games are best left to nostalgia.

Delivis, good job on the cake if you did make it... I'm assuming you like playing the Zerg??

Man, after 10 years of waiting for a sequel to come out for Starcraft, it's almost here... yeah Blizzard was making WoW at that time...

Well, I'm definitely psyched about Starcraft 2, the new and returning units and the graphics of the game. My favorite race is definitely the Protoss. The dragoons when they die every time I hear it, it sounds like "FU" to me. What a great way to die...

I hope I can get into the Beta testing... too bad I can't go to this year's Blizzcon... 100 dollars just to get in hehe...

There was a petition signed by fans saying to Blizzard to allow LAN to happen for Blizzard's upcoming games. That would definitely piss off a lot of players.

On that note of Blizzard games, Diablo 3 is another game I'm also looking forward to... man, so many games, so little time...

Question to Starcraft fans: What is your favorite race in Starcraft and why?

See, SC was great because the storyline was actually decent - you really felt for the characters. Mind you, I was like, 14 or so when it came out so I'm sure it was a little more impactful than it would be now but still...poor Raynor, losing Kerrigan like that.

Then again...how may I serve you, my Queen?

(btw, the TC in my name stands for "Thoughts in Chaos" which is what the Dark Archons say when you click on them. Whilst Kerrigan would be my queen...I think I'd enjoy being a Dark Templar as well.)

I expect no less than OMGWTFPWND awesomeness when it comes to SC2, what with Bliz sucking off just about every teenage nerd with a broadband connection and an onboard graphics card for the past 4 or 5 years straight.

Yeah, Blizzard sure likes to take their time in their products. Starcraft 2 is expanded into a trilogy and if you haven't heard, the missions for each race are between 18~32... Blizzard is trying to make it worth our time and money for a great storyline

I know.

They only did it after getting countless complaints from people who bought it with no internet connection. And UT3's was only a one time online verification thing. SC2's removal of the LAN feature is more like... every time.

I think that was part of the reason they got very low initial sales. UT3 is not about the game anymore, anyway. More about the engine.

It's insane for SC2 to go the same way. i.e. Release a limited version then release a patch months later if they know they already would have to.

Also Strategy games have lacked innovation for the past few years. They've stagnated, and all they actually make now are new graphics. So I'll wait and see on how the release gets received. Last RTS I've enjoyed in multiplayer was C&C: Generals. And even that was just same ole same ole build, make units, attack thing. To put it simply: I WANT SOMETHING NEW! Like... ultrarealistic graphics for instance... or the ability to zoom in at a personal level (There's actually a game like this in development by an indie east european company, I forgot the working title. It's awesome but it's set in WW2, which is a big downer, WW2 games are a dime a dozen).

It's why I generally stick to SP's nowadays with great storylines. Although I do miss the human enemy component.

The games I'm most looking forward to at the moment is the new Mechwarrior, Diablo 3 (which has been in dev for ages), and Mass Effect 2 (hopefully they'll include a real gay romance option this time).

Oh and P.S. in tribute to the greatest villain in gaming history:

Zerg... from what I remember I loved doing the speedy attack zergling rush. Haven't played that game for years though. I play WC3 a bit now but I can't wait for SC2.

I hope they change some stuff around. The change from WC2 or SC to WC3 was massive but the game (WC3) played amazingly in my opinion.

Zerg regeneration has been increased. And a new early unit, the roach, has tooons of regen. Burry it for 10 seconds and it is back to full. So great for early rushes.

What i dont like is that the Protoss no longer have mind control but the zerg too - castable from underground!. Weird for the zerg to have that and not the protoss.

*shifts eyes*

I was always Terran.

my defenses were impenetrable. other players would waste their armies on my defenses, while i built up a massive battlecruiser army and wipe them off the map.

*sigh*

i only ever played in N64 though... yes, i am THAT ghetto. i love N64. it's still my favourite.
