Below is the embed code from an MSNBC video clip. It doesnt work on RJ. Is there a way to alter the code to embed the clip on RJ, like Youtube clips embed and play here? If there is, how does one alter it?

    oh I see whats happening

The HTML writes up an iFrame (imagine a browser window within a browser window) however when you post something to RJ it is parsed and cleaned by filters to remove malicious or "potentially malicious" HTML code that could do things you don't want..

so the parsers are removing the iframe code, its pretty standard forum based stuff.

you can't post MSNBC vids here

Ben is correct. I tried after getting the embed code and it has something within the code that makes it show up only as a link.

There is no way to take the URL and stick it in an embed code and make it work?

hmm... ben is the master of taking things and sticking them in other things to make them work, so if he hasn't done it yet, i don't think it's possible icon_wink.gif

no unfortunately not, the code you need is an object code that calls flash stuff, thats all written dynamically using javascript which means to embed the code you'd need to write the object html code yourself to embed it, also MSNBC would need to allow cross domain calls for video's for the flash player..

in other words, it would be possible if they have there server setup right to allow certain things, you could certainly write the HTML object code but finding the location of the video source and then if MSNBC allows it..

    it's not worth the effort

    so in short

    No unfortunately not possible!

Although I'm sure Charlitos will come along, he loves disagreeing with me so he just might go to the effort for you

it's like what lilTanker said... it's for preventing malicious cross-site scripting. Just to test, I'm gonna see if I can turn everything pink with style tags....

    [edit]
    Clearly, it didn't let me....

Ok, you have convinced me with MSNBC server having to be set up, too.

Damn. ... Just a link seems so lame
