I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself. A few years back I started doing cardio and ended up loosing 72 pounds. Unfortunately, I didn't really know what I was doing and never lifted weights. I have recently started weight training on a regular basis and like the results; however, I still enjoy jogging on a regular basis. I watch what I eat (most of the time icon_rolleyes.gif ) and generally avoid sugary foods. I find the sugar has an effect on my ability to memorize music in preparation for performance.

Welcome to RJ, Pianist! My story is much like yours. I did an overhaul of my health and am really enjoying the results.

Love your etude, by the way. I play classical piano as well, if only as a hobby.

Welcome! That ├ętude at your RJ home page was lovely. Hard to fully appreciate it over the Internet and computer speakers, but the "bell sound" reminded me of my Steinway; a Model L perhaps? Maybe even a "B" but muffled by the technical limitations.

I recorded that very ├ętude over 30 years ago, to use under the closing credits of a little TV program I produced & directed. So it's very dear to me, and brings back very special memories. I would love to hear more of your playing, if it's available.

Again, welcome to our little online community. icon_biggrin.gif

Welcome! This is a great place to get information on diet and workout information and a lot of other pieces of information (sometimes too much). Enjoy and play along.

Beautiful etudes. I love the whole of Op. 10 (No. 5 being a personal favorite) as well as Op. 25 too.

    Well played!

Is that how you earn a living? (Performing)

Not yet, I'm afraid. I still need to graduate; however, I do perform on the side - either in concerts, accompanying instrumentalists, or improvising background music for events.

Good ear. It's a "B" in a very, very bright hall degraded by cheap condenser microphones, further degraded by the mp3 format, and further yet degraded by uploading it. icon_eek.gif

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Thank you for confirming my assumption! I would know the bell sound of a Steinway anywhere, if the recording & playback are not too degraded. Yeah, that totally missed the deep bass of the "B" leading me to suspect a smaller frame, but your technique & phrasing were quite lovely. Do you have more online examples of your playing?

I have some early analog recordings of myself from Lincoln Center, not very good, either, since it was in a temporary recital space as the Alice Tully was being completed. Nothing later, as a motorcycle accident in 1968 ended my public playing. My "Wanderer" was my signature piece up to that time.
