Hey guys. Friend and I are visiting Seattle in September. It's a vacation for us but ultimately a "Are we sure we wanna move here" trip. It's the first time either of us have been. I've done a lot of research on what parts of this country I'd be most interested in living, and Seattle is #1 on my list. So I'm anticipating this will be one of several trips in the near future, provided that I do like it.

We are planning where to stay but not 100% sure where all the gay clubs and stuff are. Is it Capitol Hill? Or are there several parts of the city we might be interested in? So far, we just have the normal touristy stuff and the gay scene on our itinerary. One day we may rent a car so that I can visit Redmond and see Nintendo/Digipen. But other than that, we'd like to stick to one area where we can maximize our dollars and time the most efficiently but staying around areas that we would want to visit the most.

Anyone have suggestions on the neighborhoods or parts of the city that might be a good fit? The hotels downtown are a bit out of our range (even the hostels are 600+ for the week we will be staying for a private room). For the amount of money that we would be asked for it would be practically as much as a month's rent for some of these apt ads I'm seeing online. I tenatively booked a hostel but would really like to get something cheaper, so I put a craig's list ad up just in case people might be interested in renting out a room, guest house, or have a temporary sublet that we might be able to take advantage of for around 300 for the entire week. I have one offer from a nice lady in Wallingford so far. Google maps says Capitol Hill is about 45 min by bus which includes the walk to the bus stop. Does that sound correct? Another question I have is what is the public transportation like. Is there tram or just buses, is there free transportation or is there unlimited rides for a week type package?

Lots of questions, unfortunately. I've got the plane tickets at a great deal, now just planning the rest of this is stressful. Thanks in advance for anyone who might be able to offer some advice. (^_^)

Area just off downtown with the gay bars and bathhouses seemed pretty cool when I was there last. Of course that was over 9/11 so everything kinda sucked right then.
