Hello gentlemen, I need some advice, 10 days ago I had an operation on my knee, to remove a small piece of bone that was causing me discomfort and also they released my right quadricep a little, as it has been causing some issues with my knee cap, (this is the 2nd time I have had this done, first time was 10 years ago)

So my question is this, obviously I am off my feet for some weeks, have been signed off work for 6 weeks, but what should I do when I am able to return to exercise?

I have been off my game now for several months, due to the pain I have been having in my right knee, really want to loose about 15kg (30-35lbs) so what do you suggest? Has anybody tried the Strength Foundation 12-Week Workout, is that a good place to begin?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Peace, X

Have your orthopedic doctor advise you about how limited that knee may be, in terms of stability and impact tolerance. I assume physical therapy will be recommended, as well, with exercises suitable for your situation.

Without that information it might be unwise to propose things for you online, and since you may be given a therapeutic regimen it should take precedence for the near term. I would guess, however, having had knee surgery myself, that low impact and low stress work will be prescribed, possibly aquatic exercises if available. But it's more complicated than that, and range of motion, repetitions and other factors come into play.

Upper-body work should be OK, provided the legs are not involved. And swimming might be a great, but even that I would confirm with your health care providers. Bicycling, treadmills, stairclimbers, elliptical, etc, would seem doubtful to me initially, until you have a medical OK for them.

    Congrats on verifying.

I'm going to know a lot more I guess once I go back to clinic this coming tuesday to have my staples removed.

get2knowit saidDid your doctor give you any rehab advice? Usually after a surgery like that you get therapy.

I guess I will know more come Tuesday when I go to the clinic, physiotherapy is likely but no idea what I going to need, have had a splint on since the operation and have no idea what is going on with muscles in my leg.

It's driving me crazy though, all this laying about, no exercise, no work, no even walking to the shops.
