I didn't even know there was a Broadway strike going on.

I have to start saving cash for a summer vacation to London next year, though. Kylie Minogue just announced dates for her next tour. Since the Manchester show I was at in January was stopped due to illness, I really want to make it to this show.

Well Timberoo, do you construe yourself a "horrible gay" because you didn't know about the strike or the fact you are going to see Kylie Minogue in London...

The strike's over, Timberoo - they reached an agreement last night. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/29/theater/29broadway.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin.

The shows should start running again tonight.

I'm with ya on the Kylie show!

Speaking of Kylie, my director "acquired" a copy of her new album, and it's been spreading around the office like wildfire (can you tell I have plenty of gay colleages?).

I've never been a huge fan, though I've enjoyed her singles. This album, on the other hand, rocks! Been listening to it for 2 days. It's sexy and modern, the best of the pop genre I've heard in a while.

    Should be a great concert.

OK... I've listened to a couple of Kylie Minogue's songs on iTunes so hopefully I don't have to hang my head in shame anymore.
(I prefer Eric Clapton's version of "Over the Rainbow" however)

I have a Kylie song on my iTunes. I don't know if I'd pay to see her. However, I did just buy a whole row of tickets to see Tom Jones in June with a bunch of my friends. Does that make me a horrible gay, or does it make me a middle-aged, panty-throwing Welsh woman?

Thanks, Q... I feel better now.

I saw Tom Jones years ago and it was actually a fun show in a corny sort of way.

    Broadway strike? Didn't know.

And, uh, Eva Cassidy's rendition of Over the Rainbow is considered the best.

Why would anyone go to London anymore...$2.06 for one Pound! I was in Amsterdam visiting fam and the Euro was $1.50!!!! CANADA'S dollar is worth more than ours! Wait til she tours Mexico icon_surprised.gif)

Until a year or so ago when somebody educated me, I thought Kylie was just that early-eighties Locomotion chick...

    Membership REVOKED!!! icon_eek.gif

But I love all things Madonna. Does that redeem me at all?

I was with an Australian for 12 years and yet never developped an appreciation for the Kylie phenomenon. I think he only played her stuff when I was away because of that one single critical comment I foolishly made early in the relationship. Ooops!!

I do have 'In your Eyes' in my iPod though; I love the Jean Jacques Smoothie Dub version the best.

Timber, going to the UK to catch Kylie in concert is hardcore gay. Exhale, you're fab.

Actually, this will be my second trip. I flew over in January to see the Showgirl Homecoming Tour. I was at the Manchester dates she had to stop early because she and half the crew had the flu.

For those who don't know her, she was doing a tour called Showgirl in 2006 and was diagnosed with breast cancer. After recovery, she reworked the show, took it to Australia (that leg of the original tour had been cancelled) and called it Showgirl Homecoming, then brought it back to the UK for more dates.

I normally wouldn't have flown over to see her, but I figured it might be my last chance. I got to do sightseeing in London and had a blast in Manchester.

A section of the show that is popular with gay men who aren't big fans is this one:

Timberoo, I don't think you have to worry about your gay card being revoked any time soon... icon_wink.gif

The only reason I knew about the strike was because I get email updates from Broadway.com...

As for Kylie, I do like her music a lot (though I prefer Patti LaBelle's version of "Over the Rainbow", Sam Harris' version is my next favorite), but I've never bought any of Kylie's CDs or seen her in concert. Years ago, during the "Locomotion" days, I used to always get her confused with Stacy Q (remember "Two of Hearts"?)... but I don't do that any more... I like having my gay card too much. icon_lol.gif
