I'm always sorry to see anyone pass when they are so young... But I gotta admit that I hated his writing. I read one of his books (Just As I Am) and it pissed me off so much that I could never bring myself to read another. I'm glad that his writings did touch so many others though.

As for his books, I was just the opposite. I have them all except the memoirs. Never really interested in the childhood or anything like that. But I could not put any of the books down and always was anxious for the next one so that I could find out about Raymond. He was on tour for his latest book and I hope it does go to major press. It isn't here yet and I don't know the title.

Wow!! How sad!!! I am a HUGE fan of his work!! As a matter of fact, I just bought "Basketball Jones" which I cant wait to start reading it! I love his style of writing and his compassion when he writes. What a GREAT loss!! A great man!! Wow!! I cant believe it!!

bigguysf, his first couple of books really did suck; but I'm happy to say that his writing improved with each book.... Regardless, it's sad that he died at such a young age...

Oh my. That is so sad. I've read a few of his books and enjoyed them. It's so sad to see a talented and inspired individual pass on. He's left behind a legacy and will be remembered.

Best wishes to you, Lynn.... and thanks for providing good reading material on those quiet and long weekends.

Wow..what a shock. He leaves behind a treasure of literary work...I've read a few of his books and have enjoyed each one (Just As I Am, Abide With Me, and Invisible Life).

ive only read two of his novels... they actually made me entertained to the point where i forgot about tv. And im really saddened that he passed and sort of outraged as ive been on mediatakeout and other blogs and to read the hateful and ignorant things that people say about his death just crushes me to see how people have lost all respect for a person that has passed.

I haven't read any of his books, but I know he was a popular author. I'm sorry to see him go so early. Hopefully his death will inspire others to continue his line of storytelling.
