So, my probably best friend is celebrating his 28th birthday tomorrow. He's gay, like younger guys, is funny and a little eccentric, works in an electronics and computers store. Underwear, gym equipment are not necessary, anything else I think would be great. Any ideas what to buy him?

I always think the best gift is something that, that paticular person might want but will not buy for themselves, within your price range of course

Well that's the problem, I don't knowXD, he doesn't express his feelings that much, I was just hoping for a few funny ideas, nothing expensive, but witty and special.

Personally I think one of the best gifts you can do for him is to take him to lunch at a really nice restaurant. The reason is, your giving him your time on his birthday. He won't forget it if you make it memorable.... maybe where there are some cute waiters!

I say feed him. Take him out someplace you both enjoy. A different take on the food thing is to buy him specialty prepared frozen foods (meals) that he can stash in the freezer and eat when he wants.

In NYC, we have Fresh Direct...a little expensive, but good.

If you have no gift to bring ..

You can play him a song ... and dance in your underwear

I'm big on buying things for people that they may not normally buy for themselves. I've been big on vases, photo frames and cufflinks for presents recently.

You're his friend so I'm asuming you guys go out and do stuff together
So plan a day or a night out with him somewhere
Look for something you'd both enjoy together

I like to plan a shared experience - either something you both love or something you think your friend would like to try out:

    -rock climbing

-flying lesson or open cockpit bi-plane ride, or glider

    -hang-gliding

    -a concert, play or film

    - a sports event

    -sailing

    -fishing

    -SCUBA diving

    - a wine tasting

    - a session at a Russian steam bath

    -Bikram yoga

No matter what you choose to give him, step it up with some nice flowers. Whether or not they admit it, everyone loves getting flowers.

People often say that if you're at a loss for what to buy a friend, then them something that YOU would like. And then if you're still at a loss, get him a gift certificate (hey, it may be impersonal, but I still appreciate gifts like that!).
