I'm here to tell you, that arrogant comment at the Beijing Olympics made by the French team is going to haunt them for years.

i didn't put too much stock by their comments. all bluster that athletes tend to do and i'm sure that the media was looking for a bit of controversy.

they should have focused instead on how poor a job NBC did with telecasting the events here in the USA

agreed, NBC had 2 hours, and spent too much time on michael phelps.
the 2 hours were poorly managed.

of course i am biased, i like mens diving, no funky bodysuits ;)

ps, although the show did provide a unique moment when david boudia once dove. he was wearing a very very small speedo, and the underwater camera caught him with it down....yes, i am a perve, but in a nice way LOL.

    Oh man, I'm so - I don't even know what - stunned.

Aaron Peirsol didn't make the final in the 100.

He said he misjudged where he was in the race. He had an 8 year streak (or something like that) going. %&($#&% I can't believe this. He's my favorite swimmer.

The announcers are saying maybe the bodysuits are a factor. Peirsol had on a pant, not a bodysuit... ??

I think he's one of the nicest guys swimming and quite attractive as well. but crap can happen on any given day.

and the suits are a major factor. have the swimmers swim without them and compare their times to when they swim with them.

I think Ricky Berens would agree!

Link has an NSFW pic, by the way.

i just saw the americans beating the french in the 4x100M at worlds. once again they were focused on phelps and he actually swam the slowest leg of the 4.

That Lochte guy is a cutie

I totally agree about the suits. They need to be banned... but then, what do you do with all the WRs set while wearing them? Asterisks?

Keep in mind though, Phelps 200 fly WR was in a Speedo LZR. And, I think maybe one of the women's records was set in a textile suit as well.

    What a mess.

Peirsol won the 200 back icon_biggrin.gif

And - Japan's Ryosuke Irie. Smoothest, cleanest backstroke I've ever seen. Sweet.

Yeah I don't look at Phelps previous Olympic medals as being completely legit either because of how suits obviously affected swimming there too.

It's funny to hear people try to talk about swimming on here, like they know the sport just by watching it on t.v....
The suit that Phelps was wearing is going to be banned too, I would know, I use that suit also. Though the main focus of this whole ban is to switch polyurethanes to textiles, another restriction consists of suit length. Body suits and legs are going to be banned also leaving only speedos and jammers, although Speedo is lobbying to get legs back.

Wow, I haven't been to a high school meet in a long time. I didn't realize that you guys were wearing LZRs. Cool.

Have you heard anything about FINA's stance on the WRs set with the polyurethane suits?

FINA has not decided what to do with those marks as yet. Phelps did say he's not going to be competiting int'l until something is done about the suits
