Should I/we have more "jock" photos?

In this post, I'm starting with two caveats:
    1. Weightlifting is technically a sport and I respect it heartily, but it fits into a different category of sport/competition in my head.
    2. "Jock" is loaded and we could argue all day about it's definition and unfair expectations of males in sports. That's not very fun though. So, I just want to use jock as a general term for athleticism and sport.

So, I'm indicting myself on this one since I noticed I didn't have any photos of me being a "jock." That is I would like to have more than just my build and training to represent me and I kinda chuckled when I saw a few guys actually have themselves playing sports, but a lot of us just rely on general shirtlessness to communicate our jockishness (no complaints on those really).

With that said, I'd love to see more photos of us engaged in sport or some kind (sport in an extremely broad sense. I'll include dance and rhythmic gymnastics). There's something that impresses me of pictures where guys are actually using our bodies and competing against ourselves, others or nature. Plus, I think we'd add a lot of hot photos to the site. I'm including myself in this challenge and will be looking for a pickup game of something or other very soon. Anyone else with me or even share the sentiment?

Seen as it is real jock. I think a picture in a jockstrap should be compulsory for a profile icon_razz.gif

other than that I (and all those jock guys that picked on kids at highschool) question your exclusion of weight lifting and inclusion of dance which I think clearly falls into the performance art category

I think all of you should put on a wrestling singlet with the straps pulled down to the waist. Yes, yes, go for it! icon_razz.gif

I think a variation of pics are always nice, Meethead.... but post whatever pics with which you are comfortable and meet the guidelines of RJ.

Sports pics are nice, they can encourage discussion and questions.

Aside from the fine sports of "turkey carving", "baby pool sprinting", and "statue kissing", I think I've got some fairly jockish photos in my profile.

One is of the culmination of my 2300 mile bike trip.
There are a variety of snowboarding picture.
Various swimming and diving pictures as well.
A random hashing and triathlon picture.
Assorted pictures of my hiking adventures.

Only if you draw blood. Someone else's. Doesn't count if it's your own.

I think he meant the figurative "jock" instead of the literal icon_wink.gif

I haven't seen competive knitting. Competetive shearing-carding-spinning-weaving, yes, but not knitting.

What? Why are you looking at me like that?

I'm lucky in that my bf comes and shoots pics for my volleyball league. I'm unlucky in the fact most of my pics are awful.

Thanks to a couple of our supporters I have a bunch of photos of our rugby matches and (every now again) a decent one of myself holding the ball.

But I don't want to give the impression that my *entire* life revolves around the sport ;)

Well I guess one prob presents itself by asking who will take these action shot's?

My wrist and fingers get serious wrkouts as they tend to move vigorously at times, does that equate to jock like status? and I think that pic can only be shown in the private pic area?

Most of mine are sports action shots. Guess I am in the minority.

Oh wait, RuggerLondon, you're the one who got me thinking about this.

My intro is a bit contradictory. I think I was thinking that we have a lot of photos involving weightlifting (self-included) and I'd like to see more of others. That would have been easier to say probably.

More action photos would be great. It would be a lot better than some of the faceless torso pics on here, which make many RJ'ers look like a bunch of pathetic clones.

So if I lift weights in a tutu, does it become performance art?

I view the "Real Jock" thing more as a mentality involving fitness, discipline, and self-esteem.

Truth be told there are a lot of guys on here that are very fit. Truth be told there's a lot fakes, wannabes (but to lazy), and some just plain here for pictures. Some of the guys are anorexic (prevalent in young gay men), and a few are fat asses.

Most accomplished athletes have good self-esteem, good focus, good discipline and planning, and roll with the punches.

You have to be in extremely good condition to compete in some sports, and not so much with others. One could argue whether something is a sport if you smoke and drink and eat fries while doing it (bowling / golfing) and you can make a strong argument that things like competitive eating are neither art, sport, nor healthy.

I have over 100 videos online. I have 100 of pictures online. Several of are me doing what I love (working out). My first and last name is published. I know that I've inspired many a person to get off the self-loathing thing and to step up in their behavior by showing them no one gives a shit about something so simple and natural as sexuality.

I cut to the chase and reserve good judgment. I'm refuse to be an enabler by being all-accepting, nor do I support closet cases, nor dishonesty.

Reality is, about "action photos", that they can be hard to get. Reality is that many of the guys here lie on their profile. Their look doesn't match the profile.

I do have some "sports pics", though most are in the private section. I guess I could make a few more public....
action pics or not, if they include a face I like that better than headless torsos.

I believe that RJ is all about gay men coming together sharing a "commonality" of purpose. A subtext to that is getting to know other gay men who share a similar life view. I don't think it's necessary to have "jock" action pictures posted, to service either of those purposes.

Some of you certainly agree with the former, and less the latter. In that case, what pictures you put up probably are designed to show some level of fitness. I believe that both purposes are important, hence I have a lot of conventional pictures posted, including a bunch showing me with RJ buddies, since the second purpose is at least as important, if not more so, than the first in my case.

As an aside, in my opinion, anything that involves a combination of strength and endurance is a sport. So my definition is pretty all-inclusive.
