"Blackle.com - Saving energy one search at a time".

Found this cool site that claims that black backgrounds help save energy in small amounts but that obviously adds up collectively. Anyways, it looks pretty cool to have a black background google, check it out.

In this age of LCD screens, where the largest energy load is the always-on fluorescent backlight, the way to save energy is to turn the brightness down on the monitor. The amount of energy used to switch pixels in the liquid crystal matrix is minuscule compared to the backlight, and some displays have zero voltage black (meaning the zero voltage, default pixel state is black instead of white.)

I use Blackle, a friend turned me on to it a few days after it launched. It was terribly unreliable at first, much better now.
