cestfort2000 saidHey guys,
Can anybody reccommend a good internet site to pick up some road bike gear at resonable prices?
If you happen to be in Chicago and know of any decent road bike shops let me know.....
Thanks
I've used some of the online stores above, I've found it depends on the item you want, and watching for sales & clearances. One place is good for this, and another place is good for that. Afraid you have to surf a lot, and there are dozens of online bike stores.
But fortunately I have good in-person choices here, so I don't shop the Internet much, mainly to compare prices. Sometimes you can get regular discounts if you belong to a riding club that's made an arrangement with local dealers, or if you participate in an event. I routinely get 10-15% discounts here because of both those reasons. I also attend bike expos (sometimes as an exhibitor myself), where you can get discount show prices, not sure how often the Chicago area has those, but look for flyers at the dealers.
Or just establish a good personal relationship with a shop, especially if you buy a top-line bike from them, and they'll give you discounts all the time. And they'll let you peruse their own distributor and manufacturer catalogs, order the stuff for you, and install it if you like. I'm doing that tomorrow (Tue), to get some accessories for my new CamelBak hydration backpack, that I haven't been able to find online (the company itself doesn't sell direct).
