    boom! (click for full article)

"A Seattle-area athlete needed medical treatment Tuesday after small bombs were thrown onto the track at the start of a relay run at the World Outgames. This attack is the second to take place against on attendees since the global LGBT multi-sport event opened last weekend. Three men have been detained as a result of the incidents and police said they are looking for a fourth suspect."

Had this been the Olympics, those little schmucks who threw the bombs would have been called terrorists. Because it's a bunch of homos under attack, we get "suspects".

One thing though: the suspects can be charged with hate-crime, unlike here.

I'm a little surprised there's not more interest in this, especially now that all you gay "athletes" have been targeted specifically and internationally. icon_biggrin.gif

(that is, unless somebody's dropped a bomb on you and you're unable to reply)

That pisses me off. I was in Copenhagen on a student exchange. The city itself is beautiful, and very gay-friendly. (Also known for being extremely safe. Something like one violent murder took place while I was there)

I'm glad to hear no one was killed.

However, there is still a lot of stuff going on beneath the surface. Muslim communities have struck many tender chords with local Danes over rights to freedom of speech and respect of religion. There have been disputes over the famed Mohammad cartoons of last year, to accusations of racism and police profiling.

there are crazies everywhere... before the fireworks throwing incident, three outgames participants were beaten by some idiots.
a positive side effect is though, that it has created a lot of press here in Denmark and made politicians focus on hate crime. It has made more people realize that this is going on even in our "openminded" society.

2 years ago when young muslim men threw rocks at the copenhagen pride parade, police didn't give it much attention. I'm quite sure it's being taken more seriously now.
