I just saw an old clip of Saturday Night Live featuring Gilda Ratner playing Rosana Rosanadana. I was on the floor laughing.

What other comedy people do you like to watch?

Just as an historical note: Radner's character was based on an actual local NYC news anchor & reporter from rival ABC-TV, Rose Ann Scamardella (aka Roseann).

The early and mid-1970s were a time when US TV stations were trying to get away from the all-white suits on their news broadcasts, and they began to bring in women & minorities. Geraldo Riviera was also one of these, and some were quite incompetent and rather embarrassing on the air, with little or no prior experience.

Radner was parodying this type, although Scamardella was hardly a bad offender in this regard; there were a lot worse. I came from the NYC area and still visited there often, so I understood the local context of Radner's character.

I loved all the original SNL performers, many of whom went on to great things. A magical time of crazy anarchy on the air, that hardly exists today. I'd be happy to see it return.

Gilda Radner was a comic genius who died way too soon. "Its like my mama always told me...." "...and another thing..." You should catch her in the original condheads skits!! And John Belusi's bit as Julia Child??? And on and on. The early days of SNL were truly a special thing...

    "Jane, you ignorant slut!"

I like so many different comics. I used to spend lots of time backstage at comedy clubs, so I really developed an appreciation for the good ones.

Just reading the title of this thread made me smile. Gilda Radner was a classic, and I miss her style of humor.

Currently, I love Kathy Griffith and Margaret Cho.

I really love Ellen Degeneres because she's absolutely hilarious without being vulgar or offensive or sexual. THAT, I think, takes real talent!

Not to say I don't enjoy offensive, vile or racy comedy -- It is funny. Some of the ones that jump out at me are Russel Peters, Margaret Cho, the Queen of Mean Liza Lampanelli, and Debra DiGiovanni!

Rosie O'donnell and Kathy Griffin are fantatic! Seen them both live more than once. in fact heading soon to the House of Blues in Atlantic City to watch her perform. Cyndi Lauper & Rosie are on a summer tour.
