I think this is something indicative of close friends, I wouldn't read too much into it, but if you were using the same utensil, that would be a different story.

I've had straight friends share deserts. Believe it or not I was the one most uptight about it because my friend had a cold sore so I kind stuck to the one small portion he hadn't dipped at.
