I got 5 medals, one for every event I was in. 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes. As soon as RJ approves the photos, you can see them in my profile.

It was a blast. Denmark has the most beautiful people on the planet. There were thousands of athletes there, and the city had such a great vibe.

Everyone there rides their bikes, and the city is so clean and beautiful. I think it;s because it's so cold there all the time that at least they have something nice to look at.

Even in July its only 70 degrees for a high, and the sun sets at 10pm and rises at 430.

The club and bar scene there was fun too, and it was fun to watch the rowers at the party they all went to after our regatta ended paired off. Everyone at the regatta was checking each other out, so as soon as it was done, there was lots of...well...you know.

At the medal ceremony for us they had apparently some sort of ex-porn star give out the medals, and would kiss the rowers on the cheek., When I got mine, my teammate yelled "No tongue!", and the guy said, "Oh, why the hell not," grabbed me by the back of the head, pulled me in and we made out in front of 200 cheering rowers. I was a little woozy after that, haha.

Overall, it was very empowering I think to see so many athletes, and good ones at that. I'm kind of in awe how 3.5 years ago I was sitting in my dorm room thinking it would be better to kill myself than be gay, and now I'm medaling in the Outgames. It goes to show just how far you can go emotionally and physically in just a short period of time.

So yeah, The Outgames was great. You all should try to go to the Gay Games next year in Cologne, you beautiful RealJocks

Copenhagen is supposed to have one of the highest qualities of life on the planet.. A lot of my friends at the SF Tsunami swim team are there and get back next week.

But most importantly, CONGRATULATIONS to you. You should be real proud of yourself.

This sounds so fun to be a part of, and congratulations for the medals. But, am I the only one that was a bit disappointed to hear that they had an "ex porn star" handing out the medals? I mean, honestly, is that the best they could do? Sure the making out in front of 200 rowers was humorous, I guess, but typical of a gay event. Do they always have to have some sort of sexual connotation for everything? Call me uptight, but all of that sort of cheapens something that should be geared more toward the sports.

...well how else could it be seen as "out" & gay?

    xoxo

    And Congratulations too!

    Great experience and cool medals!

    Amen!

IrisSoul> next year, i'll definitely go to watch the Outgames,

Next OutGames will be in 3 years, after which they'll be on their permanent 4 year cycle.

2010 is the next Gay Games, this time in Germany. They're coming back to the USA in 2014 (last I heard, to either Boston, Cleveland or Washington DC).

Yeah congrats, I'm glad you had a good time here in Copenhagen. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to witness the spectacle of the games (even though I live here) cos I was either working r out of town during most of it... icon_sad.gif

    Congratulations on your many medals!!!

I got one gold in 4x50 meter IM relay in swimming but otherwised failed to impress in my other categories in swimming and soccer.

I agree with you on the games, they were well orginized and the vibe was definately there. The danes are lovely people as well and it´s been an overall fantastic week!

    Great Job!

TheIStrat, you are to be congratulated big time!

I wasn't able to compete this time but did play in Gay Games, Chicago and Outgames Montreal.

Some of my friends in USA Triple Threat won the GOLD in Volleyball as well.

We at RJ are so glad you ARE still here and representing us well!
    Again, big hugss!
