Glasses! Are they a turnoff?

I've worn glasses most of my life and they are so annoying. Even if they made me cuter, I'd rather not wear them because of how inconvenient they are. When you see someone you think could potentially be hot, do you immediately ignore him if he's in glasses/spectacles/whatever you want to call them?

    wow, I'm not alone lol

I wore glasses in high school because I HAD to (yes, my eyesight is pretty bad) but I've always thought they are really annoying!

After 3 years of confining my field of view with those things, I decided to wear contacts, and I LOVE them. The only thing is that my eyes are a bit dry, so with dryness comes irritation and with irritation comes redness and with redness... well, people think I'm a pothead lol Nothing too bad though, a couple lubricant drops help out.

However, I've been wearing glasses lately because I had some eye problems and the doctor told me not to wear contacts. I keep getting compliments from people, saying that I look good with glasses on.

so, onto your question (heh...) I do NOT ignore a guy that is wearing glasses; however, IF they're wearing glasses, I think it's more like the type of glasses they are wearing that can potentially make me ignore them.

and NO, I don't mean type as in designer, or brand or none of that superficial crap. I mean the shape [and size!] of the lens, the frame, etc. Sometimes that can make a huge difference.

Sometimes, glasses don't help AT ALL:

    Sometimes, they're very handsome:

As long as you have a decent pair that fit your face well and flatter you overall, people would be crazy to discount you on account of your spectacles.

Didn't we just have this thread a few days ago?

Oh well, happens all the time.

Guys with glasses can be very hot, or very not.

It depends on the guy, not the glasses.

I had LASIK because I can't wear contacts and wearing glasses while working out and playing volleyball really sucked. I didn't mind wearing them at other times.

It's like anything: glasses follow a fashion.

It's no different from having a mullet and wondering if not having any hair might make you sexier ;).

I dislike contacts and prefer to wear my glasses for most things other than sports and hiking.

If someone doesn't chat you up because of something as trivial as your eyewear, more fool them ;)

That's exactly why I want that same surgery! My glasses slide off when I get too active and so I either have to pull them up over and over and hope they don't fall completely off or just take them off and put them up and have to deal with squinting all the time.

If I could wear contacts, I probably wouldn't have gotten the surgery. Unfortunately, I had corneal neovascularization when I tried contacts and was told I could serious damage my sight if I continued to wear them.

The right specs look great on a guy. In fact, a fantasy of mine would be taking a guy's glasses off of him - saying, "Let's put these here on the bedside table ..... you won't be needing them for the next hour ..... or TWO hours, if you're not too tired!"

I had Lasik surgery too and now have vision like a hawk......but the surgery does nothing to correct the need for reading glasses. You will still need then to read.

the physical thing i like most in a guy is his face, and i don't care if he wears glasses or not. If he wears glasses however, i check them out too if they can give me a hint about his personality. If it is obvious that a guy is wearing glasses only to attract attention and to show off a famous brand, then i prefer to skip that kind of a person.

In low lighting, if I am not wearing my glasses, most guys look really hot to me. The problem is when I put my glasses back on.

I think glasses can be sexy. I also wear glasses, but normally at night and in the morning.

I never understood how some guys, who wear glasses, can wear them in the gym while working out.

    Mmm, Justin Bartha.

Glasses are like accents to me - everyone who has them (and wears them) is automatically a little bit hotter.

The right type of glasses can help a guy be cute or even make him cute.

Seriously I was dating one guy that I only found attractive when he had his glasses on, but of course he never took them off except during certain activities. Gee, that was a hard one to explain.

Keep up the good work! If anything, losing 75 pounds should be a great motivator to lose even more! icon_biggrin.gif
