Cultural questions

OK, so here is the scene:

Graduate student dinner. You and two people from your lab meet three people from another lab, and you suggest a match of fisticuffs to see which lab is superior. Later that night, you are driving with a super dreamy man from that other lab. He tells you he wanted to make love to you instead of fistfight. Later he also manually adjusts your body to help you align a pool shot.

Those are the facts. One more thing, he is born and raised in Mexico City. So the question is, is "making love" the same thing culture to culture? And are mexican men less afraid to adjust you while shooting pool?

Of course this is all very hypothetical.

Latin American Men are very macho. The fact that he said "I want to make love to you" mean he want you really bad. In Spanish (at least in Central America) they have many different sayings for their relationship statuses. It goes from 'just friends' to 'I want you' 'I love you.'

He is Gay and he wants you.icon_wink.gif

In Canada we sometimes say things like "Eh, how's it goin', hoser?" while adjusting a fellow Canuck's toque, when what we really mean to say is "You are like the cheese curds on my poutine," so I understand how things can get lost in translation.

Oh come on! What more clue do you need? Hypothetically speaking, of course. He does want you. Now, when it comes to act itself, the cultural component could come in. As has already been said, there are many Latin men where it's okay to have sex with men as long as they are drunk and/or on top. Just an impression, but this guy doesn't seem to have those cultural inhibitions. I'd go for it. Hypothetically, speaking.

haha, we are going sled-riding this weekend. Whether he's gay or not, it's cool to have friends in town, especially ones that like the same movies. We'll see what happens!

Hypothetically, you guys obviously have "chemistry," now it's time to do a joint research project on "physiology" and "biology." Get to it. I expect your paper on my desk on Monday.
