I go on random sprees where I listen to new artists/songs that are highly recommended and download them if I like them. I prefer music that makes you feel good, up beat. Someone who sounds like Mika http://bit.ly/MikaSizzleReel
he's my new fav.icon_wink.gif What do you recommend?

Don't like Mika much. icon_confused.gif The only similar artist I like is possibly Eric Hutchinson. Anyway here are the songs that are getting more playtime with me at the moment. I'm going through a soft alternative nostalgic phase. Playing all the old artists I used to listen to. Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox 20, Lit, Edwin McCain, Better Than Ezra, Third Eye Blind, Semisonic, Foo Fighters, Nine Days etc.

Evan & Jaron especially. Forgotten how much I loved them. Here are some of their songs and some of the newer ones you may not have heard of (I picked ones I consider 'upbeat'):

    And the artists in question:

Jon McLaughlin (who is so friggin beautiful, it hurts icon_wink.gif )

"Pop artist" is often an oxymoron.

Thom Yorke, however, is an artist.

See, the problem is that different things make different people feel "good, up beat". I feel really good listening to more chilled out pop, instrumental music or electronica (which is really just modern "instrumental" - what else are a sampler, synthesizer, laptop, theremin, etc., than the "instruments" of our day?)

A few suggestions from the poppier things I like:

    Hot Chip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGfJ4shG4ak
    Grizzly Bear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGfJ4shG4ak
(that's a new song, although the video for 2006's "Knife" has got to be one of the most intriguing music videos I've ever seen)

Right now I'm into Jay Brannan and James Morrison music.

I love Mika though. His album is amazing.

And I think I'm the only one, but I'm sick of U2. Everytime I open the radio, that song "With or Without You" spins like 1000x a day. My ears are bleeding.

The closest artist to Mika that I know of is... the bird and the bee (Self-Titled.)

Still "The Beatles". I guess "Coldplay" is my favourite current artist, if I have any at all. I am a fan of songs not artists, so I focus mainly on buying singles not albums. Some of my favourite songs are from artists that might have only one or two hits then disappear.

    Right now?

Well, I've been listening to a band called Stars a lot. They are probably my "at the moment" favorite, but I've been listening to them for years.
