So I am having this issue where I can't seem to move out of PA!!
The only last resort I can come to is to quit my jobs and school..pack my crap up and just move! And I can't seem to convince myself to do that at this point since I have a good job with an awesome company! And since the way the economy is!

Has any one had any luck or know any good tips to get a job in another state without actually living there!? All my applications are being returned say "local candidates only!"

Most companies will not pay for relocation. Not unless it's some sort of high level executive position.

In your cover letter, you should indicate that you will be moving to [insert city] next month. You can fluff it up a little by saying you're moving in order to be closer to family/friends.

I've only been able to get a job before moving once. Even that wasn't a typical situation as I personally knew the person who hired me. Every other time I tried to move with a new job, I had the same luck you are having. No one wanted out of state applicants.

What I can suggest is to use a friend's address or phone number to put on your resume if you know someone in the area. You could also sign up for Vonage or Google Voice so you could get a phone number with a local area code. If you can at least get a phone interview, you can work out the moving part by telling them you'll take care of it, etc... You just need to get past the screening methods first.

    Good luck!

By the way, why would you want to leave Hershey? You've got an awesome theme park and it smells like chocolate all the time!! icon_smile.gif

because he's tired of the fudgepacking there...

    seriously,
best advice is to write cover letters for every job you apply to and tell them you are relocating to be closer to friends or family and are looking to start by a certain date. demonstrate your intent and desire and need for the relocation.
try to do your mandatory phone interviews and offer to fly or drive out to come in person for an interview. set dates that you will be in the city you want to move to for a bunch of a jobs that interest you. and give it a shot. I have done this and it worked once. i have also moved to a new city once without a job and would never do it again - floundered about too long. give it a go. it's your life. take it where you want.
    best of luck to you.
