Who has one? Is it really about to go under due to licensing? Ahh I just got one and I LOVE it!

Skype has a very large user base. And it's quite functional. I could foresee the company being sold off, but I don't think they will go away.

It's been sold once - Ebay bought it & agree they paid way too much for it ($2.6 billion).

muchmorethanmuscle saidYahoo messenger has the same video and conferencing features.

Except that everything Yahoo does is unstable-- from their webmail to their video messenger. Plus, Skype gives you fullscreen video with no problems.

it's great when you have family traveling over seas..
and lots of the Gay.com Cam guys use it. But with Yahoo you can open multiple windows for that type of action.

Yahoo has only a postage stamp size non adjustable video window, is less stable and the sound is of poorer quality.
Overall Skype is even a little better than i-chat.

We use Skype for certain overseas friends we have, but not very often. I do think it's superior to the other services I've tried, especially for our Macs. Therefore, I expect it will be killed off by its bigger competitors, in order that people don't realize how much better it is. Would be nice if one of them adopted it once they kill it, but not how these things work.
