I was just curious what you guys would say about this. I'm getting close to getting my BS in Criminal Justice and will start applying to become a cop soon. What do you guys think about cops, especially gay cops

It worked in Six Feet Under!

I'd say it doesn't matter and it would be just like any other relationship, but I don't know the policies for cops, like if you'd be kicked out for being gay or whatever like the military.

From what I've seen most agencies don't give a crap. And from what I've heard your fellow officers don't care who you are or what you do as long as you've got their back

Well it sounds like fun, then. Are you afraid you'll scare off potential friends by becoming a police officer?

I've dated cops. One is still one of my best friends. He's a great guy..fair, honest and a total gentleman....and was smokin in bed.

I think it has something to do not only with his unique personality, but also his training and job, which requires him to treat everyone fairly evenly, as a human being.

As long as the guy was cool I wouldn't have an issue dating a cop. He better be ready and willing to play cops and robbers though - I am the robber icon_twisted.gif

That is true. I've gone out with cops. When they're not at work, they're like anyone else.

I played with the idea of becoming a cop after the military, and my boyfriend at the time absolutely forbid it. I wouldn't personally have a problem with dating one though (I might even get off on it)...

    My ex is a cop.

When I went out with friends, he was always making sure that my ride home haven't drunk a lot and REALLY serious on that. He said that he saw too many "ugly occurrences".

On the downside, he was never really interested in spending free time outside, since he'd been always outside while working.

Yes... I would date another cop.

As one, I know that it bothers some guys. Some because their use of recreational drugs isn't accepted and some just want to worry about you the whole time... other guys don't have any issues at all. I was in a LTR with another cop years ago, and it was cool that we both understood the job and what comes with it. I would def date another one in the future.

I have dated a cop before, and I'm also one.

I think what a lot of people are not addressing here is the difficulties of dating a cop. Yeah the uniform and all that fantasy stuff, but the reality is, and especially where I work, we are held to a higher standard on and off duty. My ex still says he prays for me every time I go on patrol. Also cops can develop emotional issues from the stress of what we see and have to deal with everyday. If we were ever at a party and I was being introduced to someone and they found out I was cop, there were usually two reactions. The first being absolute disdain or the second, admiration and with the second comes the questions. What was the most exciting situation you've been in? Where do you work? What is it like? Have you ever (insert weapon here) to anybody? Then all of a sudden my job has completely stolen the conversation and now for however long this conversation lasts you're in the spotlight.

It's different and there are books about dating cops. You just have to be mentally prepared that everyday could be it.

the only issue most gays would have about dating a cop is how casually queers tend to view 'recreational' drug use. They don't seem to see it as breaking the law. Most of the gay cops I know tend to isolate themselves from those sorts of queers, and there are ALOT of them.

Dating a cop can be alot like dating someone in the Military. The job comes first most of the time. I dated a cop whose had to leave in the middle of the date while I caught a cab home because of a call. The job is stressful and the other person has to be able to understand that. Its also a dangerous profession.

And as for all the 'handcuffs' comments...

My buddy Timmy in boston has been a cop for years, and quite the kinky piggy. But when it comes to his uniform and his tools, like the issue handcuffs, those are for work. He uses those tools for lowlifes and turds. The uniform is something you respect and revere. They dont belong in the club or the bedroom.

You are right... I get a lot of those comments about wearing my uniform, handcuffs, etc. My uniform isn't sexual to me... I am sure there are cops who can get off on wearing it and the power of it and to fulfill some sexual fantasy they have themselves. While I can see the other side of it (I think a hot guy in scrubs is very hot, and sure medical people don't find their scrubs sexual either) I don't have any fantasies of sex in my uniform. I usually can't wait to get it off after wearing it for 11 hours, so the other times really doesn't do anything for me.
