It means the evil, lying Republicans have been foiled again. Little by little, they will hopefully be relegated to the dustbin of history. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm not trying to be a jerk, or lecture you because you are entitled to your own opinion and I respect that. However, I do not believe that all Republican's are evil. Why be so negative and hateful? You're just propagating the same hate that those whom you attack do. Just because people do not support Obama, doesn't make them "evil."

Good. Finally we don't have to hear those nut-bags like Sessions blathering like hypocrites in the hearings anymore.

What does it matter that she is Hispanic?
Besides, wasn't there already a Hispanic in the Supreme Court? Man it sounds so racist talking about a person by race like that icon_sad.gif

No. If you are referring to Cardozo, he was descended from Sephardi Jews from Portugal. He was interesting in his own right:

And it matters because after over 200 years some of the highest offices in the land are now occupied by people of different genders and different ethnic groups that have been excluded in the past. It means the the country is becoming more diverse in its representation, and more accepting of difference.

It doesn't really look or feel like the celebration of diverseness or differences when people hold up individuals because of how they are different though.

I don't know why you would think that. How else would you celebrate diverseness? by being the same? or worse yet, separate but equal?

I disagree with you. People who support the discriminatory and racist attitudes of the Republican party are just as guilty as the evil doers.

It's not about race, it's about representation. A better government is one that looks like the people it serves. And the people it serves are not all rich white kids whose daddies bought their way into an Ivy League.

Now the next major thing on the agenda for US Supreme Court nominations is finding a highly qualified, impartial gay/lesbian candidate for the supreme court when one of those aging conservative windbags retire from the bench. Otherwise this is great news for our country. The US Supreme Court is beginning to reflect the tremendous diversity of our country rather than resembling a suburban protestant white mans country club like it has for so many years.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that, buddy.

As for Sotomayor, I'm sure she will do a great job and be a welcomed addition to the court.
