I was looking at an artist photograph, which was a photo of a drive-in movie, and I wanted to know if any of you guys live in an area where drive-in theaters are still up and running?

If so have you ever been to it in recent years or is it just an abandoned landmark?

There's one in Wellfleet MA, a short drive from Provincetown. It's fully operational, complete with refreshment stand, but it has the kitschy aura of a costumed historical re-enactment.

I used to love the Drive In Movies! Wow haven't been to one since I was a little kid. There is one in my area about 45 minutes away but its only open in the Summer months. I actually have never been to this specific one, but its funny every time I have ever driven past it I think I should really go sometime. icon_smile.gif

I actually went last weekend, watched Transformers and Land of the Lost (unfortunately I wanted to kill myself after watching the latter) but it's always a great experience, they've been closing them down in the surrounding cities, but my hometown's is still going strong at only $8 a car

I know that there's at least one here in San Diego because my cousin pseudo-forced me to be the awkward third wheel when he took his now-ex-girlfriend on a date. icon_eek.gif

...but yeah, they're fun (once you spot a cute guy, surprisingly by himself, undressing you with his eyes).

    Drive-in theaters RULE. Really.

I haven't been to one in a long time, but I think they make for a memorable night.

I have a drive-in near where I used to live, between Etowah and Athens, Tennessee. They were playing The Hangover there a short time back. I wanted to see it but didn't make it. MMMMMmm Bradley Cooper.!!

There are a couple that I know of around here. One is probably an hour and a half away, the other fifteen minutes.

I've been to both in the last three years, and they still seem to be doing alright.

There's still one drive-in open that I went to as a kid. At one time, there were so many to choose from.

    None. They're all gone.
One has a Home Depot on it, one is now a subdivision, and the other is an industrial park.

Although, I've seen some of the kids have installed digital projectors in the grills of their cars... they just pull up to a wall and make their own drive-in.

The drive-in that I know of near me played the latest Harry Potter this weekend. Since I already seen it and I was busy I didn't go. I, instead, went to another theatre to see GI Joe.!!!

I love drive-ins. But the last one here closed about six months ago.
