Seems like when I go out to eat someplace and get a salad for my meal, it comes on a plate with all the ingredients grouped together in an artful arrangement. Sure, it looks pretty, then I have to try and keep everything on the plate while I mix it together.

    It's salad. Some assembly required.

Ask your server if you could have your salad tossed...

I actually enjoy my salads arranged. I rarely ever make salads in a bowl. My salads are made on a plate, starting with the leafy greens, working all the way up to the roasted almonds, feta, and my homemade balsamic dressing.

It actually tastes better to me that way! Tossed salad looks revolting in my eyes..

Move to DC ... or any location where they have a "Chop't...."

... makes salads with whatever you want in them... then they chop em all up and make them EASY to eat...

Sounds like a trip to the developing world might be in order. The barrios of Haiti might be a good place to start, as they're relatively close. Of course, any of the dozens of countries where the average income approaches a dollar a day and one has to haul (often contaminated) water for miles will do.

It has to look pretty otherwise people will say "what is this slop" and send it back. I make pretty salads, nice, colorful, and healthy (not that I make salads for a living) haha.

I've noticed a lot of places do that now...plate up a salad to look nice, with all the ingredients sort of separated (especially when ordering a Cobb Salad). I don't blame them. I plate up my dinners to look nice even when I eat alone. icon_smile.gif

I try to just remember to ask for the salad to be tossed when I order it.

lol Timberoo, know what Mom does? She politely asks the waiter for a bowl. She dumps her salad into it and tosses it. She made a comment once about some restaurant salads looking like a vegetable platter, so where was the dip in the middle?
