Apparently now it's official and Paula has decided to leave "American Idol". They are not going to replace her, but rather go back to the 3 Judge format with Kara remaining. This will probably work fine, because I think Kara does a great job, but Paula will no doubt be missed. I always loved the nurturing positive input she brought to the judging, and even when she was loopy she could be endearing and entertaining.

That all said, I'm betting that we are going to see Paula cross-over to the other 19 Entertainment hit -- "So You Think You Can Dance". It just seems a little suspicious that Paula would leave the #1 show on TV for 7 years running without something better for her in the wings. I wonder if this whole thing perhaps hasn't been orchestrated to coincide with "So You Think You Can Dance" coming back in the fall which will be competing against "Dancing With The Stars"? Paula would be the perfect judge for SYTYCD due to her choreographer background, and I also think it would be a ratings boost for that show.

Anyone else think this could happen.

CuriousJock....I'm in shock..devastated. I'm not sure how I will pick up the pieces and move on with my life. Maybe there is a support group for someone in my situation.

Was she ever actually awake and lucid on the show?

    LOL

I'm looking for a support group as we speak. I'm sure there is a 12 step program somewhere that will help us both deal with this. I don't know about you, but I don't think I can just quit Paula cold-turkey icon_lol.gif

I enjoyed Paula's antics. As much as people make fun of her for being high all the time, she always had something nice to say. She was a positive vibe that I think any person in the competition must have appreciated!

According to Entertainment Reports this morning - AI has re-approached her and the negotiations continue...

I smell a publicity stunt. But I will say, she's worth more than Ryan Snoozecrest and apparently they offered her less to stay on.. icon_rolleyes.gif

I would hope that she joins SYTYCD. I agree, she'd be beyond perfect to be a judge on that show. *CROSSES FINGERS*

It definitely makes sense that Paula or the people behind both American Idol and SYTYCD must have something up their sleeve. I read yesterday in USA TODAY that anything could happen between now and January to bring Paula back. Makes no sense that Paula would leave such a great thing like she had with American Idol, and why would the producers want to lose her? Say what you want about Paula, but she does bring a lot to the show, and she has millions of fans. Can't imagine the show being quite the same without her.

Curious, this may be happening. The producers of SYTYCD are meeting with Paula over the weekend. She's also appearing in two episodes as a judge on "Drop Dead Diva" in the fall.

This would be great. I really enjoyed the finale last night. Paula would be perfect for that show.

Never seen SYTYCD or DDD. What do you like about those shows? Haven't seen American Idol in a long time when Paula appeared semi-normal. Do see on occasion America's Got Talent - the Hoff and his antics crack me up - and I like Sharon's voice and accent.

All I can say is that I want some of whatever was in her Coke glass.

SYTYCD I like because the talent (and the dancing and choreography) is just crazy good. DROP DEAD DIVA is fun if you liked "Legally Blonde" or "Devil Wears Prada" mixed with a legal show like "L.A. LAW". Plus the "Heaven Can Wait" like concept of the show -- hot blonde model/actress dies and comes back as fat brunette lawyer -- is hysterical.
