Jock? I don't think so. Boi? Two words: N-O. Masculine? Hardly.

Your thoughts on various words people use to describe themselves?

    Mine are as follows:

    1. VGL: Thanks for telling me. Now I need not even chat with you.
    2. Jock: Rollerblading does not a jock make. Unless you earn a paycheck by playing a sport or are on a collegiate team, please spare us.
    3. Boi: Your tenure as a b-o-i ended as soon as you grew a p-u-b-e.
    4. Hot: See #1
    5. Masculine: If you need to tell us, you are probably not.

    Discuss.

VGL: if you need to tell me you are, you arenĀ“t
    Hot: ditto
    Masc: insecure
    muscular: compared to my grandfather.

This thread topic touches on many previous threads. And I think most guys here agree on all 5 points.

And if I recall correctly, there are some guys here that are turned off by "laid back" or "down to earth" guys.

I keep it simple and honest. I just tell guys that I'm boring and ugly. icon_lol.gif

So what happens when your tenure as a collegiate athlete is over? You therefore cease to be a jock?

VGL: I'll be the judge of that!

Jock: Yeah, well I'm a REALJOCK, so there. Go long!

    Boi: [Shudder]

Hot: Please tell me you're describing the temperature.

Masculine: So... that means you have a penis?

How about the real reasons this matters to you and why it makes you feel better to have other people join you in the public slogging? And why are the adjectives you use to describe yourself any more accurate than what someone else might use? Self perception is a tricky thing, no?

    1. VGL: Let me be the judge of that.
    2. Jock: I hated you in highschool I probably still will icon_smile.gif
    3. Boi: It's spelled with a y - and I prefer men thanks icon_smile.gif
    4. Hot: Let me be the judge of that again
    5. Masculine: This can mean so many things to different people - again let me judge what I consider to be masculine.

No intent to make fun of anyone perse but one's self percetpion and how they are seen by others often differs greatly.

I perceive myself pretty much as I am. A ill-tempered, less than average, surly recovering alcoholic/addict with a predilection for pornography and fine cigars.

    Nothing more. Nothing less.

People are more than welcome to take me to task for what they may.

Iall agree with everything the Dawgy said, except for the Jock part. I know plenty of people that are involved in weekly organized sports or compete in BB competions (which some may argue weather or not that makes them a jock) and then you have your Ironman athletes and marathon runners and such. I'd call them all jocks, and yet very few of them see any money for all thier hard work.

I'm fine with whatever adjectives a guy chooses to describe himself. I'm not fine with guys who don't or can't live up to their own descriptions.

Well if that's the case you really ought to memo every gay porn director in existence....because all I see is guys described as jocks and it's obvious how they earn there paychecks...and as far as I know they'd be kicked off a colligate team for being in porn. icon_neutral.gif

we all take 'face value' for any advertisement - commercial products, ebay auctions, your house, etc.
i don't see any difference on this except that there is an ego invovled here.

imo, its backward approach to discuss these terms that people used to describe thermselves.
since cam is so common now, why not just turn on your cam and chat?

It's pretty hypocritical for you to criticize other profiles, when you's is full of misinformation. Why do you still have Marine photos in your profile?

You lied, and continue to lie about being in the service.

It is the same person. Other sites, like connexion, have removed his Marine photos.

Funny, I just learned what VGL stands for. I always thought it stood for "Virginal"... now it makes sense. Because there were some people that simply did NOT look like they were virgins...icon_biggrin.gif
