http://www.newsweek.com/id/211017But before I fled, I wanted to check in on an elderly woman who had come to see the movie alone. She looked shellshocked in the lobby, but it turned out that she was only crying tears of joy. Apparently, she couldn't wait for the sequel.

I started to back away, but it was so late that I didn't think it would hurt if I sprang my idea on her. What if, in the next movie, G.I. Joe were gay? Would she still buy a ticket? Her face lit up. "Absolutely!" she said. "Just because you're gay doesn't mean you're not powerful."

    LOL. Awww. Bless er heart.

I went to go see this movie and it really wasnt that bad, if you want to see tatum with his shirt off and lots of CG action sequences then the movie is really good.

You gotta watch it for what it really is, an action movie with good guys and bad guys! And it is also the beginning...of COBRA. Yeah I am kinda looking forward to the sequel too!

hollywood seems to be running out of fresh ideas. who knows, maybe one day the present concept of making movies of topics that have never been considered before will include more gay characters in roles that aren't demeaning or in more leading roles, simply because it hasn't been done before, and hollywood can't think of anything else...

"IF"......"IF"!!!!!!! The sole reason that I am gay is because of my G.I. collection whilst growing up. I learned that two men with facial hair COULD live together in their Secret Mountain Outpost with included whirlpool and sauna. And let me tell you, G.I. Joe never used his Kung Foo Grip for fighting. The outpost computer sounded more English(i.e. gay) than that Kit Car Knightrider drove around in. The biggest adventure of course was the Mummy's Tomb where they weren't after an archeological discovery, they were after jewels(i.e. bling). Um yeah, everything I know about being gay I learned from G.I. Joe.

I'll give this movie a go, well watch it matinee of course with a discount.

And if there was a gay character, it would have to be Skipper. A sailor out in see with a bunch of other guys? C'mon... it has to be him. Plus, his always been comic relief.

As the unofficial representative of the Casper van Dien fan club, I must protest that Channing Tatum is a nelly bitch and not the new Casper.

Never watched G.I. Joe, I don't even know the story or if there is one.

However I will be going to watch, even if I pay full price. I can't help but love films where they destroy french monuments.

The actors in that movie, not unlike their action-figure counterparts...can't act or show more than 2 dimensions.

    Save your money.

If a G.I. Joe were gay, he would've been pushed out of the system and we'd be fortunate enough to never see this movie made.

    :-)

There's a much easier, cheaper, more entertaining way to see him without his shirt off.

That review is almost spot on. I was fighting the desire for sleep for the first twenty minutes of the movie, and then I was fighting an irrational anger at myself for allowing my brothers to convince me to go to this movie. This then transferred over to an entirely rational anger at the characters and their horrible, horrible acting...Channing Tatum having his shirt off helped a little bit, but then he'd open his mouth and say something stupid that I had to block out.

Indeed! And read the comics... if you didn't turn gay from the toys, you certainly would after a few of those gems.
