Hey, the National Equality March is coming up October 10-11 in DC and I was wondering if anyone out there is already planning on going? I have a lot of friends who are booking flights now because it's much cheaper than if we wait. I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in having a Real Jock meet-up that weekend. Maybe work out before the March? Also, are there any DC guys out there who have extra space for a few people to crash? Maybe people could get in touch through this site to start looking for places to stay.

See you all in October at the National March!

Look into staying in cheaper places in the suburbs near metro lines going into the city.

My bf and I live in the suburbs of DC. We will be there. My family wants to come with us. I just need to come up with a clever sign. It'll be 3 days after our 2 year anniversary.

A DC Real Jock meet up? I thought those only happen when Dancer Jack comes to town.

For those people looking for hotels to stay at, i just did a quick search on hotels.com. There were a few deals that stuck out:

First the Crowne Plaza on K St had a $117 a night offer. It looks nice and is pretty close to where all the action will be that weekend.

The DoubleTree in Scott Circle is $112. Its not too far from Logan and Dupont Circles. Its probably less than a 30 minute walk to the National Mall.

The Marriott at Wardman park is $109 a night - it near the zoo and right next to a Metro station.

Capitol Skyline is $100 a night. Its 5 blocks from the Capitol. I'm not sure what the neighborhood around it is like. I do know its been hosting a popular pool party this summer, so it can't be that rough.

I plan to be there. Am really hoping there will be a group from every state so we can carry the American flag, the Pride flag and a Real Jock Flag in the march.

Hi Daveza, that sounds like an awesome idea. I have been having trouble finding other people who might want to do the 12-week workout plan with me, so it would be good to meet other realjock supporters (funny choice of words, I'm sure that's why the website coined that term). Is it posted on meetup.com?

I'm going too. I'm marching in the Veterans' contingent with Daniel Choi. Would be great to meet some RJ members there as well.

If I could go I would make it my mission to proofread the signs.

that would be great! Daniel Choi is organizing this, and as soon as the meeting spot is announced, i'll be sure and send it out to this thread and email it to you personally.

The Washington Wetskins are also hosting a water polo tournament this weekend at the Tacoma Rec Center (300 Van Buren NW, off the red line), both Saturday (9am - 6pm) and Sunday (9am - 1pm), with the championship game at noon on Sunday. Leaving a little time that afternoon to still catch up with the March.

There will be IGLA water polo teams from DC, NYC, and Atlanta, matching up with some other local teams.

If you're looking to watch some sports, come check it out.

I was at the march, and it was epic. Beautiful weather, and wonderful people from all walks of life, all getting together, united for a cause. I hope to be a part of more days like this, if that's what it takes.

After the march, I ended up at Nellie's sports bar to watch football with friends, before heading back home. What an awesome day!
