OK....

First, I´d recommend you start out with 3 whole body workouts a week to start with: you need to establish something you will actually keep doing. Starting with 6 days a week 2 hours a day will likely get you injured and giving up.

For the first month have your goals as (1) don´t get injured (2) learn good form (3) establish the habit. Ideally find someone to help you with this. you might even find guys on RJ who live in Phoenix who will help.

The game is quite easy really: lift, eat, rest, repeat.

But really: you need to take diet seriously, and you need to rest.

Others will add specifics I´m sure. I have to go to work.

as a first timer, its best to go in and get a feel for the gym. try some excersizes etc, teach yourself... or get someone to go with you and show you the ropes. When I started to work out i grabbed a bowflex on craigslist and started hitting the gym gym after that. It takes a while to be real profficient

This is pretty good advice. Do not over do it. Start with a manageable schedule, as Lostboy says 3 times a week is a good start. That's what I do and I think I have results I can sustain. If you can, it's worth it to have a trainer show you proper form. You'll probably need 2-3 sessions before everything sinks in. One session is not enough.

My only change really is I feel the game is: eat, lift, eat, rest, repeat. You're not working out because you want to lose fat, so you need to eat something within an hour of a workout to give you fuel, then some light protein afterwards too.

And I have to say I'm really jealous of those abs if you've never worked out. Bastard!!!
