    http://chattahbox.com/us/2009/08/11/maine-anti-gay-activist-blames-bad-weather-potato-blight-on-gay-marriage/

(ChattahBox)—Maine resident, Evangelical Christian and rabid homophobe, Mike Heath, has been leading the charge in New England against the danger of what he calls, the “radical homosexual agenda” for over 20 years. And he is now blaming gay marriage for Maine’s rainy weather and potato blight. Heath has certainly said some deranged and bigoted things in the past against the LGBT community, but his recent comments are completely unhinged.
Mike Heath is head of the Christian Civic League of Maine/Maine Family Policy Council, which is formally associated with Focus on the Family, founded by Dr. James Dobson. Heath is enraged over Democratic Gov. John Baldacci’s recent enactment of a same-sex marriage law. Heath is organizing a referendum campaign called, “Peoples Veto Campaign to Overturn ‘Gay Marriage’ in Maine,” to repeal the marriage equality law.

OH yes... we Mainers know him well. Not suprising at all. Actually he has been quiet lately and under the radar during this gay marriage debate.

Why has he been queit? Becuase he is bad PR for the ant--gay organizations... most people can't stand him.

This appears to be good sound scientific theory, if this were the middle ages.

Vermont and New Hampshire also enacted marriage equality laws, and we too have had rain and potato blight ! icon_eek.gif
It must be true. I am convinced.

Wow! If we gays can now control the weather how is it that I can't turn off the heat and humidity here?

Here is a little more of what he had to say. So it wasn't exactly "the gays" who did it, it was the legislature and the governor who did our bidding that are at fault.

Read some excerpts of Heath’s “gay-marriage potato blight” column below:

“Our crops are faring like our moods. The potato crop is blighted, and corn and fruit fields wither. In one historic building in Augusta, rain flooded the basement, as water from another source poured down through the ceiling and extinguished a century-old chandelier.

Few people would be bold enough to suggest the cause of the endless rain and gloom, that the moral climate in Maine has caused the sun to hide its face in shame.icon_eek.gif

Worse than the rain is the fact, that Maine voted in homosexual “marriage.”

In May, our elected officials overturned a law of nature, and in its place paid honor to evil and unnatural practices.

Our leaders allowed a cloud of error to hide the light of reason, and then the rain began. How fitting that this eclipse of human reason is mirrored by the disappearance of the sun!

What darkness equals the error of saying a family should be headed by two mothers or two fathers? What error equals saying that two women can be married, or two men?

I am not saying that homosexuals or the gay rights movement are to blame for the weather. Far from it!

The fault lies with a refractory governor and Legislature who imposed an immoral law on our people.”

my response to that logic has always been that if mainstreaming gays and supporting such heinous sins causes natural disasters and global diseases lol, then what caused them all over the last 2000 years while christ's church had a moral and cultural strangle hold over much of the planet? how about the victorian period- doesn't get any more conservative than that- maybe it was conservatism and hyper-christianity that caused typhoid, TB, Polio, etc.? hahaha
oh wait, it gets better: following that train of logic, isn't it since the gays started making ourselves known that all of the greatest breakthroughs in science, technology, and medicine- real tools to combat disease and death tolls in natural disasters- have evolved?
the man's not even logical in his own logic lol

That idiot doesn't realize that god has killed the world economy for it's treatment of his gay children.

Let em eat cake, dry cake, and let em choke cause there's no money to buy something to wash it down with.

You would think that those homophobes could come up with a new lie after thousands of years icon_rolleyes.gif

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_LGBT_history#6th_century * 529 – The Christian emperor Justinian I (527-565) made homosexuals a scape goat for problems such as "famines, earthquakes, and pestilences."
