THANK YOU to RealJock for adding this sport.

Let's hear about your experiences and help use this as a forum for discussion and to connect with teams/players around the world.

I competed in Gay Games and World OutGames Montreal last summer and many NAGVA tournaments as well.
The next one is in San Jose in March, 2007

You can find out more about our North American Gay Volleyball Association, NAGVA here www.nagva.org
and in Los Angeles you can see more about our indoor, six man club where we offer 3 nights of open gym play, tournaments and social events http://lagayvolleyball.com/

The 25th NAGVA National tournamnet will be held in Denver. Come visit the great hospitality of the Rockies. Not only is the volleyball national tournament in town that Memorial Day weekend, but the national bowling and square dancing will also be in town. This translates up to 5000 gay athletes in Denver all at once.

    Hi vbbri...

I played in the last National Championships in Denver as well.
Your city put on a great event and my team, L.A. Crush came in 5th in BB.
Maybe our paths have crossed in other tournaments.

Most likely we have played at the same tournaments, but I have only been playing NAGVA a few years and my last Nationals was Vancouver where we took 5th in A. The Denver tournament will hopefully again meet everyone's expectations.

My experiences in both were awseome... would love to hear what others think... and hear comparisons

Our setter at the Out Games in Montreal played both and said Montreal hands down was better than the Gay Games. Not that he did not have a good time in Chicago, but Montreal just had things much more organized and better planned so that athletes could get the most out of th event. I am sure both were great events, just too bad they had to split, it is only hurting the group as a whole.

I joined the first ever season of gay volley ball in salt lake city utah. It was a pretty impressive group. We stuck mainly with skirmishes against each other. We played a co-ed format. I was on the remidial team, you know the one with corky from life goes on as well as that girl with gum in her hair and a wedgy. that was my team. but i had a great deal of fun and look foward to joining them for there summer league.

Thanks guys for being so visable and giving me the hope that one day i might gained the type of skills that would allow me to play in such a large tournament.

Thank you to those who wrote here.

I agree that Montreal Outgames were better organized and overall a better player experience than Chicago gay Games, but having said that, I DID have a great time in Chicago as well.

To any Volleyball athletes looking for a Los Angeles tournament,
please see our club's website at http://lagayvolleyball.com/
We are holding a one day tournament on Sunday, February 25th at Los Angeles City College...and we award medals to the top 3 teams in each of the Two divisions.

I'll do my part in tossing in the New York info.

Between 500 and 600 people (mostly gay guys, but some people of every stripe) play in 7 divisions separated by skill in Gotham, New York's gay volleyball leage.

    See: www.gothamvolleyball.org

I didn't play Out Games, but I played Gay Games. I suppose it could have been done a little better, but VB took up so much time and we were always playing in the mornings, so it wasn't until the end of the week that I got to take in Chicago, but Chicago is always a great town despite the Gay Games overlay or lack threof.

A word from Chicago... We have one of the nation's largest gay indoor and outdoor leagues. Check out www.chicagomsa.com League play takes place 3 days a week with practices all over the city. It iswell organized and sponsored by the city parks and beaches. It's a lot of fun for players of all skill levels.

I started taking VB seriously in January of last year.

I'm playing nationals in B with New York Slap Happy (who are absolutely amazing teammates and wonderful singers, by the way).

I played Boston and Dallas with Slap Happy and we kinda sucked, but without me they got 3rd in New Orleans (dislocated foot), 2nd in Baltimore (no flow, no go), and with me we got 3rd in NYC (and I got an allstar award, now I feels all growed up).

Not quite to the bigger gurlz' level (BB, A, etc.), yet.
