    hi

i like to wear briefs when i sleep.
if you are going to have a roommate and don't know if he is straight or gay, do you still wear briefs or do you put on a few more clothes? i defintely wont go naked (not at first at least) but it kind of feels awkward for the first time to sleep in briefs with a new roommate.

im a bit shy about my body and about being gay and when i think about it, it feels awkward to start taking off my clothes infront of him before i go to sleep. is it just me? what should i do?

I think it depends on your and his comfort levels. Some guys (gay or straight) are just comfortable with nudity in the bedroom. Back in college, I shared a big room with 2 other straight guys --- they usually sleep naked or in their briefs. After a month or so I got used to looking at their bod, just 1 guy is hot, so I just didn't care anymore - I just took my clothes and underwear off to sleep after turning off the light, they weren't really looking. I mean - your new roommie prob. 't think it's not a big deal - if he's staring or turn red --- lol he's interested. You should be yourself around him - ask him straight up if he's uncomfortable if you take your clothes off in bed or whatever. Straight guys are shy about their body, too. It takes a while for most guys to get comfortable with nudity. icon_cool.gif

If you like to wear briefs when you sleep, wear briefs. Be yourself. Chances are if you are sharing small quarters you will eventually end up seeing each other naked. Don't sweat it. If the briefs bother him, he will most likely say something.

Buy a screen so your bed can't be seen from his and put on a shirt and pants when you wake up. You don't need to worry about your straight roommates staring at your body when you sleep.

If you are sleeping in the same room, but not the same bed then i strongly suggest that you don't worry about it. If you do, you'll never get your freedom back.

You're already dealing with the advantage that he's new and you're not. So he's coming into your world and part of your world is sleeping in your briefs.
If he's straight, i'm almost certain that he will care even less than a gay guy would.

When I was doing my AIT training for the military, I got put in a room by myself. a week and half later they gave me a roommate who was an honest to god cow boy. He had his pictures of him riding bulls and everything.

I like to cum before I go to sleep. Thats just my ritual otherwise it takes for ever for me to pass out. So i was very blunt and honest with. I told him I'm not trying to be funny or anything, but I masturbate before I go to sleep. I promise I'll be respectful about it and all, but just wanted you know in advance.

In which he said it was cool as long as I wasn't loud and he couldn't see anything. It was the best thing I could have ever done because my pattern didn't have to change at all.

I remember a couple of straight roommates in my fraternity room - and they couldn't have cared less about the subject. We all wore bikini briefs then and sat around studying, eating, doing just about anything that way. What I found was that straight guys consider it a non-issue.

After the first few nights, you'll feel fine wearing whatever if you and your roommate get along.

I wore boxers and basketball shorts when I lived in the dorms last year, now i got an apartment and my own room icon_cool.gif

I just had a straight roommate for two years. First off, you should tell your new roommate beforehand that you are gay. You don't want a homophobe.

I don't think wearing underwear is a bad thing. I do know that I never saw my straight roommate shirtless, or wearing anything less than shorts. I didn't let him see me shirtless either, but that is cause I'm shy. icon_redface.gif

I was in boarding school for a few years and I probably the only uptight one about showing skin. All the straight guys would get naked, or undress in full few of "everybody".
    HOT HOT HOT....good days...

I had straight roommates through almost till the end of college. I came out while living with three straight men. The roommate I shared a room with wore underwear to bed. He wasn't my type at all, so nothing to worry about. After I came out he he even pranced around in underwear that was falling apart.

On second thought, if you bed the guy once, you wont ever have to worry about dressing.

    I really don't see a problem icon_confused.gif

Have you ever gone swimming on a public beach or pool? people (who are strangers) there, see each other in what is sometimes less than briefs. Have you ever been to a sauna? Have you ever been to a locker room?

Why is it such a big deal (for americans) to undress/shower in front of other people? icon_rolleyes.gif

I would go with what many have said - sleep the way you usually do i.e. in briefs. See if there's any reaction from him in the beginning and maybe just tell him that's the way you are used to sleeping. He may prefer to sleep naked for all you know! icon_biggrin.gif

Just like Leeba said, he may be asking himself the same thing. Just sleep the way you want. If he has an issue you will know.

oh pfft, if this was MY room (even if shared with a roomate) and i had to live in it for a long time, i am going to sleep however i damn well please - even if that means nekkid. (which it would)

Roomate's not gonna stop me from being comfy, i think this country puts way too much fear on the human body and there's only one way to rid ourselves of it. icon_smile.gif
