Will a politician ever do it differently? he looks like every other politician and I wont be surprised if he's exactly like every other politician.

While I think it's great a gay man is doing this sort of thing (he's certainly not the first or the last mind you) I do question the motives of any person who wants to be a politician. All things considered.

Yes he's cute. But what is his platform? I agree with lil'tanker...a person's sexual orientation doesn't mean he'll be great. He might be like every other politician. Maybe not. I don't know. But hopefully he'll be different.

This is not someone like Barney Frank who represents Northeastern liberalism at its finest. Our previous election cycle showed how important a compelling story can go toward winning an election. He's not just another gay face. A quick look at the site shows a compelling personal story that includes alot of things middle America can relate to (Military Academy grad, decorated veteran, involvement with Habitat), and which can help us break down barriers. That's something many national-level gay politicans have fallen short of, and that is worth celebrating.

Wasn't he a guest/panelist on Real Time with Bill Maher recently? Articulate and smart if that was him.

It is a pretty solid platform that I think will appeal to that district and seems fairly in line with Rep. Tauscher's views. Out of over 400 congress members we only have about 3 openly gay representatives. An additional voice would be icing on the cake.

    Translation...

Too much information... voters (and the military) should not be concerned or try to expose the intimate relations that individuals running for public office partake in behind closed doors.

Shut the F up and just move on with the issues that we are concerned with in today's tumultous economic and socio-political times.

I'm very impressed! He said enough in that speech to get my vote. It would be quite an accomplishment to have a young (so he will be around for quite some time) accomplished, smart black gay man enter into politics. It has even more significance if his career begins in California where according to Faux News there is a war occurring between African Americans and Gays. Oh, don't they wish their two enemies were at war. What a perfectly fitting story to ending the don't ask don't tell policy. Go woods Go!
