I think guns are like the old mans toy. And I do prefer my guys not that manly that they like to play with guns and stuff, that just sets my mind into freak out mode.

I believe a weapon should have a purpose.

Joining the military has really increased my respect of the gun/rifle and other weapons that exist on this earth. I hate seeing people that think its all a joke. that love the negative connotations that come with bearing arms.

I feel that it is often times these people who wanna smile while holding weapons, that they probably aren't even certified to wield, who often times give guns a bad rep.

I think it is very off putting, especially living in the metro detroit area where you know 9 times out of 10 why someone would find such a thing ammusing.

Out here most people wanna look like gangsters, want to be hard. Think its awesome that they can say that they have a shot gun in their trunk. Its really sad.

Just a couple days ago a 17 year old was arrested. He tried to car jack a guy with a gun but didn't know how to drive a stick shift so got caught. Turns out he was the same kid, who last week, robbed a local bank and kidnapped another teenager who hasn't been since.

And on camera, in the courtroom, he's smiling at the news people. Throwing up hand signs and spitting on the floor. It wasn't until the judge announced that he was put on several million dollars worth of bail and would be trialed as an adult, meaning that he was going to jail and eventually prison, that he started looking all sad and heart broken.

And god his african american girl friend crying to the media: "He ain't like wut dey tryin to make him out to be. He ain't no monster or he ain't no criminal!"

I bet that kid sitting down in a pile of one dollar bills holding to hand guns grimming like someone from movie on his myspace page. I'm certain of it.

Handguns are for kids, I would rather have my picture taken holding an aircraft carrier (what can I say I like big things).

Guns freak me out, and I even grew up in an area where everyone and his cousin had at least 3 guns. I agree that seeing them in profile pictures is kind of off-putting.

I've never seen a profile pic where someone was holding a gun.. but yeah, people who pose with guns in general kinda creep me out. What statement are they trying to make?

umm... check out the man of the day and you'll see one...

i think the point of a gun is protection and recreation (for avid hunters, target shooters, etc...). I can understand why a guy might feel ok with having a gun if it's the latter as it would be akin to me holding a baseball bat in a pic or something, i.e., something not supposed to be taken out of its recreational context...; however, that shouldn't change the fact that guns are weapons regardless of their recreational uses, and I feel entirely creeped out by anyone who feels the need to display a weapon, regardless of intention.

I guess this thread is in response to today's Man Of The Day?

I like guns. I don't own any because I can't afford too many hobbies. But I occasionally go shooting with friends. I like the marksmanship aspect of it. Airsoft and BB guns just don't cut it, particularly for longer distance shooting.

I'm not into hunting. I prefer my meats packaged and ready to buy at the supermarket. icon_lol.gif

Either they're using props to show everyone they're very masculine and straight-acting, hahaha!
Or we have become a Nation of Haters! Everyone's carrying weapons to defend themselves.
I'm surprised noone has done a group pic doing a Charlie's Angels pose, haha! icon_lol.gif

Eh, it's no big deal. They kinda look like the guys I grew up w/ in South Dakota.

Hell, I use to shoot guns (poorly) as a kid, so seeing them in pics is really no big deal.
