Haters... We ALL Have Them!

As a grown man whose trying to get & keep it together as I near my 30s, I realise one thing---A hater is gonna lurk in the shadows. I was listening to an old school cut from The Elements (Earth, Wind & Fire, for those not familiar with the old school), aptly titled, Fantasy & I realised one thing, haters, period, can't stand to see someone else do better than them. Haters come in many forms: they can hate on you for keeping up with your appearance, your body, if you maintain it right, or simply for trying to do better. Haters tend to walk with a lip that's stuck out over what others are doing with their life because they never made or had anything out of theirs. Lemme translate that...

A hater is a person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person. Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesnt really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock someone else down a notch.

A person who pretends to act happy for your successes then trash talks you behind your back. Someone who most likely dosen't have shit to their name or something to work with has to hate on people who move up in the world. This term could be used to describe anyone who hates on another person for 'good reasons'. They will turn your good qualities around and make it look like something bad because they just aren't happy with themselves and can't achieve anywhere near what you have.

Anyone else in here has their definition of what their dealings is when it comes to dealing with a hater?

My mom always told me the best way to deal with a hater is to ignore them. That's usually what I try to do and it works.

I think mine are all pretty up front and I even made a new one today! I popped into chat for shits and giggles and before I can even type something offensive, some kid announces he's blocking me. It made me feel all warm, fuzzy and validated.icon_biggrin.gif

Your mom's wrong. The best way to deal with a hater is to very subtly mock them at every opportunity. This works even better when you use snippets of information only yourself and the hater are likely to pick up on in casual conversation. Now if you're really really good, you can attack them in a room of 20 people without it so much as hitting anyone's radar. The entire point being to bait them into directing overtly bitchy or snarky remarks towards you that the casual observer would see as completely unwarranted.

^ This has happened to me (and I'm sure to many of us in here) on more occasions than I care to recall. Sad, really.

Now I know no-on is going to read this, because I'm just so hated. I'm living proof, that the truth is a powerful thing! So why do people have to lie?

Down here in Oz we call it. "Tall poppy syndrome", where people feel they need to cut others down.icon_wink.gif

Ceasarea4 is a prime example of a typical hater. That is why I tell him exactly what I think of his anti-Arabic snipes that he constantly cooks up in the windmills of his bigoted, narrow mind. Long live free Palestine with the entire City of Jerusalem as its national capital and its political and cultural hub. That is if you can evict the hateful, militant zionists out of that city.

This works wonders, but then the thread gets deleted, and I'm sad... icon_sad.gif

...but then I remember I have Skittles, and suddenly I'm happy again. icon_lol.gif
