jprichva saidNot only won't he be missed, in about 15 minutes he'll be completely forgotten.

I suppose his legacy will be that he was involved in the illegal leaking of Valerie's Plame's name by the Bush Administration, which he cowardly never fully addressed. Nice way to be remembered, for a guy who was a newsperson and commentator for many decades. Ah, well, you sow what you reap. I wonder if Dick Cheney will attend his funeral?

To say "good" to anyone dying is truly pathetic.

I agree. I am not happy about anyone's death unless it was someone who caused unremitting suffering. While Mr. Novak's commentary may not have always been palatable to me, at least he gave me and other people things to thing about.

My comment prompted this response? How sad for you.
By the way, what does this have to do with Novak dying?

Some of you guys on this site are an embarrassment. You bring the term "Bitchy Queen" to a whole new level. The man died. So he expressed views different than your own. He wasn't Hitler. Shame on you.

I personally didn't have a problem with Novak. I always enjoyed the look on his face as he got ready to explain a position or his view. Yes, he was a conservative.

My largest issue with him was over the Valerie Plame "gate"....pretty unfortunate to say the least.

But I'm not going to say I'm glad he's gone. Lets be reasonable. He worked hard and was dedicated to his column and journalism in general.

I would save the "good" or "glad he's gone" comments for someone who personally scarred me.. not someone with whom I had a political disagreement.

This only proves that he wasn't one of the undead. I say we should post Buffy just above his grave to be totally sure.

The man outed a CIA agent, and imperiled the lives of all of her undercover contacts. He wasn't just someone with different views, he was a traitor.

Save your sanctimony for someone else.
jprichva has every right to be happy that someone who might have committed treason won't be in a position to possibly do it again.
No one here knew him so why do any of you care?

Save your pompous mean-spirited bullshit for someone else. Robert Novak was never convicted of treason. The whole Valerie Plume affair is still somewhat of a mystery and her own husband was a part of the problem. My point is, a man died. He wasn't Hitler, or Charles Manson, or some serial killer. Have a little compassion or just try to keep your mouth shut if you find that impossible

WOW, Robert Novak is a respected journalist and one who added much to the political scheme and debate. Can we not honor the man on the day of his death?? It's not a matter of saying kind things of dead people, it's a simple matter of respect.

rv and jp lack the ability to separate politics from any post. I am not surprised at their petty and classless remarks.

seems to me that you don't have to say anything at all if you don't want to pretend. You are right, lying is classless too.

He was most definitely respected within the journalistic community. If you didn't appreciate his politics that's your choice but there's no need to piss on the man's grave. He was very thoughtful and stood for his beliefs. I won't soon forget the many debates he engaged in on "Crossfire."

Respected by whom? The man spent his entire career as a right-wing hack. I don't owe anyone respect just because they've died.

More tunnel vision from the peanut gallery. Because YOU didn't respect him you apparently think that sentiment stands for the rest of the world. Sorry, but Robert Novak may have been many things -- a "Hack" isn't one of them. I didn't always agree with Novak's take on certain issues either, but that doesn't change the fact that he had a long career that lasted well into his 70's and he was very respected by many in the industry.

You apparently don't read so well. This isn't just my opinion.

I didn't say it was just your opinion. What you did say was "Respected by whom"? as if no one respected him, or that he didn't deserve respect. I was making the point that not only did he deserve respect, but many also respected him. The fact that you didn't is neither pertinent or surprising.
