In 1967 I refused to have my HS yearbook picture taken, the only one of about 450 Seniors. The yearbook committee still left a space for me and put a caption I was supposed to have spoken, which I had not. I also refused to attend the graduation ceremony, and they withheld my diploma because of it. Eventually it was given to me.

To this day I hate public functions that might feature me. I am very private, and accept no recognition whatsoever. Anything I do is for my own pleasure, never for acknowledgment by others. Only on a few occasions have I been "bushwhacked" without prior knowledge, which of course I tried to accept gracefully. I simply do not accept honors, awards or any kind of recognition in public, which to me is the height of déclassé.

Everyone had a nice suit on in their senior yearbook photo. I came to school with a goddamn Bob Dylan shirt.

The gay guy just couldn't get my smile fits more on the face of a cannibal than my own and kept getting me to smile wider and bigger.

I looked like a fucking fool. Everyone has their nice clothes and I got a freakin' Dylan shirt on with the stupidest smile.

It's going to haunt me, I know this.

I feel the same way. I just had a regular high school pic put in for my senior photo. Also skipped graduation because I find it pointless and not really deserving of the "honor" placed upon the ceremony, not to mention not wanting to hear the listing off of the 800 kids in my class I didn't know or care existed. Sleeping in instead of going to 9am graduation was also more important to me icon_biggrin.gif
